Ben Stokes returns to Bowling in Dharamsala; Removes Rohit Sharma in first Delivery

England skipper Ben Stokes dismissed Rohit Sharma on his first delivery in the first innings of the fifth test of England’s tour of India 2024.

Indian captain Rohit Sharma was stunned on day 02 of the Dharamsala Test. Rohit was dismissed on the first ball of the 62nd over just after lunch on March 08.

Stokes had been playing as a specialist batter throughout the series. He came to bowl for the first time after lunch of the 5th test. Stokes bowled out Rohit with an excellent outswinger and uprooted his off stump. Recently, Ben Stokes has hinted about bowling in the ongoing series after the conclusion of the third test.

Sharma has been impressive during day 02 of the Dharamsala Test match on Friday. He smashed a century setting up a base to help the side set up 400+ scores in the first innings.

Ben Stokes was not expected to bowl in the ongoing test series due to his knee surgery. He did not bowl in the first four tests but was seen practicing in nets.

Coming to the match, England chose to bat first and scored 218 runs where Zak Crawley was the only scorer smashing 79 runs on 108 deliveries including 11 fours and one six. Kuldeep Yadav collapsed the England’s top-order batting line-up.

Duckett, Joe Root, Jonny Bairstow, and Ben Foakes are the other scorers of the first innings of the fifth test. Jonny Bairstow completed 6000 test runs at Dharamsala where he scored 29 runs. Kuldeep Yadav bagged five wickets while Ashwin became handy with his fourth test in his 100th test match.

England was sent out with 218 runs on the 58th over of the match. With a trail of 218 runs, Yashasvi Jaiswal and Rohit Sharma opened the innings on day 01 in the fifth test.

Their partnership made 104 runs for the first wicket where Yashasvi Jaiswal smashed 57 runs on 58 deliveries before being dismissed by Shoaib Bashir. Shubman Gill came to bat and scored 26* runs while Rohit Sharma scored 52* runs by the end of day 01.

Resuming the match on day 02, Shubman Gill and Rohit Sharma both scored a century. with the dismissal of Rohit Sharma, Shubman Gill was sent out with 110 runs by James Anderson.

Devdutt Padikkal smashed a half-century during his test debut. He scored 65 runs before being dismissed by Shoaib Bashir. The bowler dismissed Sarfaraz Khan for 56 runs.

At the time of writing Dhruv Jurel was dismissed for 15 runs by Shoaib Bashir at Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association Stadium.
