Possible Replacement for Bumrah

The Indian cricket team have not yet named any replacement player for Bumrah. But a report states that Shami who missed the home T20I series against Australia and South Africa due to COVID19 is the first choice for Bumrah’s replacement.

Mohammed Shami

Chahar who bowled well in the recently concluded South Africa T20I series where India won the series by 2-1 too is a strong contender for Bumrah’s place.

“The team management is clear about the like-for-like backup. Chahar has been identified as one for Bhuvneshwar Kumar. Bhuvneshwar is still the first-choice swing bowler. Shami was seen as a strike bowler as cover for Bumrah. So, Shami is ahead at this point. Siraj is scheduled to travel with the team as a standby,” a source told TOI.

Indian cricket team will begin their T20 World Cup 2022 campaign with a match against Pakistan on October 23 in Melbourne Cricket Ground, Melbourne.
