The team hit the ground running with their first practice session at Sydney Cricket Ground (SGC) on Tuesday.

Virat Kohli who recently out performed in the recently concluded India vs Pakistan match helped India to beat Pakistan by just 4 wickets in a close encounter.

“I bowled to Virat Kohli, Rishabh Pant and Dinesh Karthik. Because of the pitch, I got bounce and that is why I enjoyed bowling against these three batsmen. Nets pitches and practice pitches are different because of the bounce the batters were having difficulties. All three of them are World Class players and bowling to them was fun,” Muhammad Irfan told ANI.

“I am here in Sydney since 2019. I play for the Western suburbs district. Through New South Wales I got an opportunity and I have come to give every team practice before that is why I come to every session for practice,” he said.

Winning the toss, India chooses to field first. Babar Azam and M Rizwan who were considered the pillars of the Pakistan cricket team failed to score the expected runs and lose their wicket for 0 and 4 respectively to Arshdeep Singh.

With Masood and Iftikhar Ahmed’s impressive knocks, Pakistan managed to score 159 runs for 8 wickets.

“Recently Virat helped India win a match against Pakistan. So, it felt great to bowl to him in the nets. He is the best batsman in the world. Virat Kohli gave me best wishes and to hear it from one of the best in the world is great,” he added.

Virat Kohli’s back-to-back six of the 19th over bowled by Haris Rauf increased India’s hope for winning. But Nawaz dismissed Hardik off the first ball of the final over and makes the final over as thrilling as possible. Nawaz bowled a highish full toss which Virat redirect to cross the boundary ropes.

The boundary loads pressure over the bowler which makes him bowl wide of the next ball which adds positivity to the Indian side with 2 needs of the last delivery, R Ashwin made a bold move by staying in the crease and leaving the ball which turned down leg after pitching and resulting in wide.

After the scores are leveled, Ashwin lofts it over mid-off and scored the required one run, and leads India to a historic win.
