New Zealand is scheduled to play their second World Cup match against the Netherlands on October 09 at Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium. Recently New Zealand won their first match of the World Cup 2023 against defending champions England at Narendra Modi Stadium.

Mitchell Santner was impressive in the match against the Netherlands as he dismissed 5 wickets for 59 runs and helped the side to victory in the match.

Winning the toss, Netherlands chose to bowl where Devon Conway and Will Young opened the innings for New Zealand while Aryan Dutt opened the bowling innings. Conway and Rachin were sent out by van der Merwe with 32 and 51 runs respectively.

Will Young was impressive as he scored 70 runs on 80 deliveries and Daryl Mitchell scored 48 runs and was dismissed by van Meekeren.

With the dismissal of Tom Latham for 53 runs by Aryan Dutt, Glenn Phillips and Chapman were sent out with low figures. Mitchell Santner and Matt Henry scored 36 and 10 runs respectively as New Zealand scored 322 runs in 50 overs losing seven wickets.

Lockie Ferguson and Trent Boult didn’t get the chance to bat. Aryan Dutt, van Meekeren, and van der Merwe scalped two wickets each while Bas de Leede dismissed one wicket.

With the huge target of 323, Vikramjit Singh and Max Odowd opened the innings while Trent Boult opened the bowling attack. The openers failed to create a good impression as they were sent out with 12 and 16 runs by Matt Henry and Mitchell Santner. Colin Ackermann came to the rescue as he scored 69 runs on 73 deliveries.

After the dismissal of Colin Ackermann, Teja Nidamanuru scored 21 runs and was dismissed by a runout. With Colin’s dismissal, Netherlands was down to 5 wickets scoring 157 runs on 33rd over. Santner dismissed Scott Edwards for 30 runs while Sybrand was sent out with 29 runs Henry.

Other batters were sent out with low figures.  Mitchell Santner was so intense as he scalped 5 wickets for 59 runs while Matt Henry dismissed 3 wickets. By the end, Netherlands was folded for 223 runs losing all 10 wickets on the 47th over.

Mitchell Santner was awarded Player of the Match for his terrific bowling attack and he joined the list and stands in sixth position for best bowling returns for New Zealand in the World Cup.
