Kolkata Knight Riders Scored the Second Highest IPL Team

In this very season, SRH broke the 11-year record for the highest team score in IPL history scored by RCB in 2013. Exactly a week later, KKR nearly came close to breaking the record but failed just 5 runs short.

Kolkata Knight Riders scored the second-highest team total in IPL history in their league game against Delhi Capitals in Visakhapatnam.

Speaking on the game, Kolkata Knight Riders won the toss and opted to bat first where Philip Salt and Sunil Narine opened the inning for KKR.

Sunil Narine made an aggressive start with a focus on setting a massive target for the opponents. As expected, the dup made a 60-run stand for the first wicket. Nortje broke the partnership by dismissing Philip Salt for 18 runs.

But Sunil Narine and Angkrish Raghuvanshi made an extraordinary partnership and built 104 runs for the next wicket. Mitchell Marsh made the breakthrough by dismissing dangerous Sunil Narine who scored 85 runs off just 39 deliveries which included 7 boundaries and 7 sixes at a strike rate of 217.95.

following his dismissal, Angkrish Raghuvanshi made an impressive contribution by scoring 54 runs off 27 deliveries before losing his wicket to Nortje while the team scored 176 runs in 13.2 overs.

Though KKR Captain Shreyas Iyer failed to make a massive contribution, KKR’s aggression was carried out to the next level by Rainku Singh who scored 26 off just 8 deliveries.

KKR already surpassed 250 runs mark and started to move towards setting the new highest scoring in IPL history but Ishant Sharma who bowled the last over dismissed Andre Russell in the very first delivery and scattered their dream of breaking the highest-ever team total in IPL history(277). At the end of 20 overs, KKR scored 272 runs for 7 wickets loss.
