KL Rahul set to return for Fourth Test

India will be playing their fourth test against England with a significant boost in the squad as KL Rahul is set to return to the squad. The player has recovered from his injury and is expected to join the squad before the next game.

“KL Rahul is doing fine and is about to gain full match fitness before the Ranchi Test. He will be available for the selection,” said BCCI.

The middle-order batter KL Rahul has missed second and third Tests against England with a quadriceps injury. He was included in the squad for the last three tests, but his availability was subject to fitness.

Rahul did not recover on time for the third test where India won the match by 434 runs. Devdutt Padikkal was added to the team as Rahul’s replacement.

KL Rahul is likely to replace Rajat Patidar in the squad. Meanwhile, Jasprit Bumrah has been rested for the fourth test to manage his workload. He was the leading wicket-taker in the series so far.

His inclusion in the fifth test at Dharamsala will depend upon the outcome of the fourth Test.

The Indian team will be starting in Ranchi on February 20 and the player will part ways with the team and travel to Ahmedabad. The management’s decision to rest of Bumrah is to manage the workload.

He bowled around 81 overs in three games and picked 17 wickets becoming the leading wicket-taker in the ongoing series. There is no information about the replacement of Bumrah for the upcoming test.

India leads the series 2-1 and will be playing the fourth test starting on February 23 at JSCA International Stadium Complex.
