LSG vs KKR 2024 Highlights; Narine Shines as Kolkata Registers 98-Run Victory against Lucknow

LSG vs KKR 2024 Highlights: Kolkata Knight Riders registered their 8th victory of the IPL 2024 campaign during the match against LSG on May 05 at Ekana Sports City.

With this victory, Kolkata Knight Riders moved to the top position of the IPL 2024 points table with their impressive run rate. They equaled the points with Rajasthan Royals securing 8 victories out of 11 matches they played.

Sunil Narine was named as the Player of the Match after his impressive knock of 81 runs. While speaking in the post-match conference, “The most important thing is starting well and it’s good to have the backing of the support staff. I think you have to pick your strengths and pick your spots, sometimes it works out and sometimes it doesn’t.”

“It’s going very well, Varun is picking up wickets, it’s making my job easier to keep things tight. He is a hard worker and it’s good to see him do well. The boys are anxious and eager to play, so no matter what the situation is they are up for the challenge and they are contributing for us,” said Sunil Narine.

Coming to the match, Lucknow won the toss and opted to bowl. Philip Salt and Sunil Narine opened the innings where Philip Salt scored 32 runs before being dismissed by Naveen-ul-Haq. With Sunil Narine’s 81 runs on 39 deliveries, KKR was able to post a score of 235 runs in 20 overs.

Angkrish Raghuvanshi scored 32 runs before Yudhvir Singh picked his wicket in the 16th over. Andre Russell was sent out with 12 runs on 8 deliveries before being dismissed by Naveen-ul-Haq.

With Rinku Singh and Shreyas Iyer‘s 16 and 23 runs, KKR was able to cross the 200-run mark in the match. Ramandeep Singh’s 25* runs helped the side to score 235 runs losing 6 wickets in 20 overs.

With a high score target of 236 runs, KL Rahul and Arshin Kulkarni opened for LSG where they scored 25 and 9 deliveries. With Marcus Stoinis’s dismissal for 36 runs, LSG lost four wickets scoring 85 runs.

KKR bowlers entirely dismissed the LSG middle order at regular intervals. Deepak Hooda was sent out for 5 runs while Nicholas Pooran and Ayush Badoni were sent out by Russell and Narine for 10 and 15 runs.

With Ashton Turner’s dismissal for 16 runs by Chakravarthy, LSG lost seven wickets for 127 runs by the end of the 14th over. With Krunal Pandya and Yudhvir Singh’s 5 and 7 runs, Lucknow Super Giants lost all 10 wickets on 137 runs in the 17th over of their innings.
