Ravi Krishnamoorthy a Bangalore software architect migrated to New Zealand in the early 90s. An interesting cricketing connection lies in Rachin’s father’s friendship with former Indian cricketer Javagal Srinath. They had cricketing experience in Bangalore before Ravi Krishnamoorthy relocated to New Zealand.
Young Rachin Ravindra shared his passion for cricket with Srinath during their time in India. There is an interesting fact about his name which his father revealed after his maiden century during his ODI debut.
He said that he was named after great Indian legends Rahul Dravid and Sachin Tendulkar. “Those two (Rahul and Sachin) are two amazing players- two of the greatest cricketers of all time. I guess I’m embarking on my own journey, I’m my own man, so it’s awesome to take inspiration from those two,” told a New Zealand website.

Rachin Ravindra Childhood
Ravindra’s grandfather Balakrishna is a renowned educationist. Rachin’s father Ravi Krishnamurthy used to play in cricket clubs before settling in New Zealand in 1997.
Rachin was influenced by Sachin Tendulkar and started to play cricket at the age of 5 and travelled every year to play club cricket. Rachin Ravindra was 10 years old when he watched the legendary batter Sachin Tendulkar batting at Chinnaswamy.
Domestic Career
Rachin Ravindra amassed a total of 2753 runs on 46 first-class matches with an average of 38.77 and a strike rate of 50.43. His highest score of 217 runs comes from the match between Durham and Worcestershire in County Championship Division Two during the season 2022. He also dismissed 54 wickets and had a bowling figure of 6/89.
He amassed 1502 runs on 46 List A matches with an average of 37.55 with a high score of 130 runs, dismissed 30 wickets and had a bowling figure of 4/60 which is his best in the List A category.
He scored 618 runs on 53 T20 matches with a high score of 67 and also dismissed 41 wickets in his domestic T20 career.
