Talking about the camaraderie between India and Pakistani players, Akram said it’s only the fans and media which hypes the contest as a battle between two arch-rivals but the reality is quite different from what it seems as both teams have a lot of respect and admiration for each other.

“Sports brings people together, I’ve been saying this all along. Pakistani boys are huge fans of Virat Kohli and MS Dhoni and they would love to spend time with them.

“For these cricketers, India vs Pakistan is only a game. I was excited last night and I’ve moved on, it’s okay. At the end of the day it is only a game, somebody has to win and somebody has to lose. Whoever wins congratulations, bad luck and better luck next time to the losing side.

“We did a show for a couple of hours, we were happy but now I’ve moved on because this is a long haul, its a big tournament,” Akram told India Today.
