    Bas de Leede joins the list of Best Bowling returns for Netherlands in World Cup

    Bas de Leede had the best bowling figures for the Netherlands in the match against Pakistan in the ICC Men’s World Cup 2023.

    Best Bowling Returns for Netherlands in World Cup

    With New Zealand winning against England in the World Cup Openers, Pakistan is scheduled to play in the second match of the World Cup 2023 against the Netherlands on October 6 at Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium.

    Bas de Leede opened his first wicket by dismissing Mohammad Rizwan for 68 runs on the 32nd over. He dismissed other batters like Iftikhar Ahmed, Shadab Khan, and Hasan Ali for the best bowling returns for Netherlands in the World Cup.

    He has joined his father in achieving this feat. Tim de Leede is at the top with the best bowling figures for his country in the World Cup match against India in 2003. Twenty years later his son also achieved the feat in a match against Pakistan.

    Winning the toss, Netherlands chose to bat. Fakhar Zaman and Imam-ul-Haq opened the innings while Aryan Dutt opened the bowling attack. The openers failed to create an impression as Fakhar Zaman was sent out with 12 runs by Van Beek while Babar Azam’s dismissal for 5 runs by Ackermann.

    With Imam dismissed by Van Meekeren for 15 runs, Pakistan was down to three wickets for 38 runs. On this occasion, Mohammad Rizwan came to the rescue scoring 68 runs, and was dismissed by Bas de Leede.

    Saud Shakeel was impressive as he scored 68 runs on 52 deliveries and was dismissed by Aryan Dutt. Both Rizwan and Shakeel are listed in the highest scores for Pakistan in the World Cup debut.

    With Iftikhar Ahmed’s dismissal with 9 runs by Leede, Pakistan lost 6 wickets scoring 188 runs on the last ball of the 32nd over. Mohammad Nawaz scored 39 runs while Leede dismissed Shadab Khan for 32 runs. Other batters were dismissed with low figures and by the end of 49 overs, Pakistan lost all 10 wickets scoring 286 runs.

    With a target of 287, Vikramjit Singh and Max Odowd opened the innings for the Netherlands while Shaheen Afridi opened the bowling attack. With the dismissal of Vikramjit by Shadab Khan for 52 runs, Max for 5 runs by Hasan Ali, and Colin for 17 runs by Iftikhar Ahmed, Netherlands was down to three wickets on the 24th over.

    Bas de Leede was impressive as he scored fifty on the 27th over, helping the side on the scoreboard.
