WATCH: Kevin Pietersen Hilariously Excoriate Ahmed Shehzad for his Low Returns in PSL 2020

With cricket not happening at any level in the wake of the novel COVID-19, most of the cricketers are taking to their respective social media handles to engage with fans in times when they don’t have much else to do.

Cricketers social media activities

Former India opening batsman Wasim Jaffer, former Australia spinner Brad Hogg opens talk on MS Dhoni’s return. New Zealand fast bowler Mitchell McClenaghan shares few words on MS Dhoni and Rohit Sharma. India Women’s captain Harmanpreet Kaur reveals her favourite IPL team. Many cricketers starts to express their opinion across facets of the game in one way or the other.

Earlier former England skipper Kevin Pietersen trolled Indian spinner Yuzvendra Chahal, for his bowling. The incident took place when Pietersen was doing an Instagram live with batsman Rohit Sharma. Chahal posted a comment on the chat, saying, “KP, you are my first test wicket”.

Pietersen, who seemed to be in a jolly mood, asked Shehzad reasons behind his shambolic form in PSL 2020. “Well, I have tried my best in this IPL [PSL]. I have been working really hard. Sometimes you know as a cricketer you are trying everything but it’s not coming. You cannot help it. You still have to believe in yourself whenever you go,” Shehzad said during the Instagram live session.

Kevin Pietersen hilarious reply to Ahmed Shehzad

Upon hearing a formal answer from the 28-year old player, Pietersen laid emphasis on him being a “buddy” and not a “journalist”. Catering to Pietersen’s need of hearing a clear answer, Shehzad pointed out how him batting at No. 3 for Quetta Gladiators didn’t work in his favour.

“You want a clear answer? I was playing [at] No.3 and I tried but it was not helping me. It was my first time that I played the entire tournament at No.3. I never complained. I was doing my best, I tried my best but it was not coming,” Shehzad answered.

Continuing on pulling Shehzad’s leg, Pietersen joked how he doesn’t want to bat anywhere other than opening the batting and that the same will see him “carry drinks” in the near future.

“So you don’t wanna bat No.1, you can’t bat two, you can’t bat three, you can’t bat four, you can’t bat five. I think you must go and bat at 13. Go and bat 13 for Quetta Gladiators next season No.13 for the third team, not even for the first team. You are gonna carry drinks,” Pietersen lambasted Shehzad.

In seven matches for Gladiators this year, Shehzad scored 61 runs at a paltry average and strike rate of 8.71 and 95.31 respectively.
