Mumbai Indian batter Suryakumar Yadav has been seen batting for the first time at the Nets after recovering from his surgery.
Suryakumar Yadav starts batting in Nets
Suryakumar Yadav has returned to batting after his surgery in January 2024. He posted a story on his Instagram handle where he was seen batting in nets preparing for the upcoming IPL 2024 season.
Suryakumar Yadav has been sidelined from action since the T20I series on India’s tour of South Africa 2024. He suffered an ankle injury while fielding in Johannesburg on December 14. This led to the discovery of a sports hernia which complicated his fitness concerns.
He was impressive during the T20I series against Proteas as he smashed a fifth and a Hundred in the last two T20I matches.
Due to the injury, he missed the T20I series on Afghanistan’s tour of India 2024 which was the last T20I schedule for India before the Men’s T20 World Cup 2024.
Suryakumar Yadav’s return to batting has given a positive sign for the Mumbai Indians fans. MI will have some stability in their upcoming season despite the change in captaincy.
SKY’s inclusion will help the side in middle overs during the tournament. He will be having some quality time during the IPL 2024 before the World Cup in June.
Since his debut in 2021, Suryakumar Yadav has played 60 T20I matches and scored 2141 runs with an average of 45.55 at a strike rate of 171.55.
Suryakumar Yadav has four Hundred and 17 fifties in his T20I career. Recently, Mumbai Indians named Hardik Pandya as their new captain for the upcoming season, replacing Rohit Sharma which disappointed MI fans.
Mumbai Indian’s future coach Mahel Jayawardene said that the captaincy change is to get ready for the future. Hardik Pandya has been brought into the Mumbai Indians squad in a historic deal before the IPL 2024 auction.
Hardik was released by MI ahead of IPL 2022 auction where he joined Gujarat Titans which came into existence during the 2022 season.
He led the side to the title in the 2022 seasons and was runner of the IPl 2023 season. Coming to the tournament, the first match of the IPL 2024 schedule will feature the clash between Chennai Super Kings and Royal Challengers Bangalore on March 22.
Mumbai Indians will be playing the first match of the IPL 2024 campaign against Gujarat Titans on March 24 at Narendra Modi Stadium.
