Allrounder Hardik Pandya returns to MI franchise; Biggest transfer deal in IPL history

Ahead of the IPL season 2024, the BCCI has planned to conduct a mini auction on Dubai. On this occasion, a biggest trade deal in IPL history takes place with Hardik Pandya returns to MI franchise for the upcoming season.

The Allrounder Hardik Pandya’s discussion with the Mumbai Indians for his return to the franchise is one of the most talked trade in the IPL history. He started his IPL career with Mumbai Indians in 2015 and played seven seasons with the franchise.

He joined Gujarat Titans during the IPL season 2022, and helped them to win maiden IPL trophy and came to the finals in the 2023 season. As of the contract signed with the franchise, the players retention in the club expires on November 26 at 4 PM.

It is unclear whether Hardik will be playing the next IPL under the captaincy of Rohit Sharma. Pandya have been leading the India’s T20I squad for much of 2023. On the other hand, Rohit Sharma last game in the format comes from the semi finals of the T20 World Cup last year.

With the player returning to his old franchise, Mumbai will be paying INR 15 crores for the player with an undisclosed transfer fee amount. It is said to be Pandya will be getting 50% of the transfer fee.

For this transfer to come in live, Mumbai have to shed some players to arrange funds as they have only INR 5 lakhs left from the last auction. Despite all the teams getting additional amount of INR 5 crores ahead of the auction on December 19, Mumbai is still in short of money to complete the transfer.

Hardik Pandya has an impressive stats while playing for Mumbai Indians. He has scored 1476 runs for the club in 91 matches and whooped 42 wickets. On the other hand, he scored 833 runs for Gujarat and picked 11 wickets for the Gujarat franchise. He was one of the successful all-rounders in the history of IPL. He had an average of 30.38 and a strike rate of 145 in 123 matches he played.

With his success in Gujarat Titans club, he earned the captaincy for Indian team of occasions in T20Is and ODI format. With the mini auction is scheduled to start in dec 19, 2023, the IPL 2024 edition will begin on March 23, 2024.
