SLC has named their 17-member squad for the upcoming T20I series on the Sri Lanka tour of Bangladesh 2024 where the visitors will be missing the services of the opening batter Pathum Nissanka due to injury.
Sri Lanka Squad for Bangladesh T20I series
Opening batter Nissanka has been ruled out of the T20I series against Bangladesh due to the hamstring injury he suffered during the home leg on the Afghanistan tour of Sri Lanka 2024 and will be replaced by Avishka Fernando for the series.
Initially, Nissanka was expected to be fit but his recovery didn’t go as planned. Wanindu will be missing the opening two matches due to the suspension imposed on him for his conflict with the on-field umpire during the final T20I against Afghanistan.
Asalanka will be leading the side in his absence for the games. Only Pathum Nissanka and Wanindu are the only changes in the T20I squad that played against Afghanistan on a home tour.

Leg-spinner Jefferey Vandersay has been added to the squad. They will be playing in a three-match ODI and T20I series and a two-match Test series which is set to begin next week.
Sri Lanka emerged as the winner against Afghanistan in all three formats. During the ODI leg, the opening batter Pathum Nissanka smashed an unbeaten 210 runs to have the highest individual score for Sri Lanka in ODIs.
Meanwhile, the Tigers have tied the T20I series on the Bangladesh tour of New Zealand 2024 with one victory each. The second T20I match of the series concluded with no result.
Sri Lanka and Bangladesh have met 13 times in T20 format where Sri Lanka dominated and emerged as winners in 9 matches while Bangladesh won only four.
Sri Lanka and Bangladesh will be playing their first T20I match on March 04 at Sylhet International Cricket Stadium.
