After resolving the Visa issues, Chennai Super Kings prime bowlers Matheesha Pathirana and Maheesh Theekshana have joined the team at Dharamshala for the match against Punjab Kings set to play tomorrow.
Ahead of the PBKS vs CSK clash, the Sri Lanka duo returned home to secure visas for the T20 World Cup 2024 scheduled to be played in the West Indies and the USA. While the duo’s return was left in oscillation, Amila Kalugalage confirmed their return news.
Matheesha Pathirana’s manager, Amila Kalugalage, took to X (formerly known as Twitter) to announce that both Pathirana and Maheesh Theekshana will join the CSK camp on time.
“Theekshana and Pathirana will be joining the CSK camp on time after completing the Visa process for the upcoming CWC2024. Good news for #WhistlePodu fans. Expect fireworks from the two boys if they get an opportunity to ball. #IPL2024 #Yellove,” Amila Kalugalage wrote.
In their last clash, Chennai Super Kings suffered a seven-wicket defeat at home on May 1 in the absence of Pathirana. In the place of Pathirana, CSK included debutant Richard Gleeson who managed to bag just one wicket for 30 runs in 3.5 overs.
Pathirana has taken 13 wickets in 6 matches at an average of 13.00 and an economy rate of 7.68. Theekshana has secured two wickets in three games at an average of 45.50 and an economy rate of 7.58.
CSK currently holds the 5th spot in the IPL 2024 points table with an NRR of +0.627. CSK needs to win at least 3 of their last 4 matches in order to qualify for the IPL 2024 playoffs comfortably.
Chennai Super Kings will play their next match of the season against Punjab Kings on May 5 at Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association Stadium in Dharamsala.
