Romario Shepherd Scored 39 Runs and Bagged a Wicket Against DC
With the 29-run victory, Mumbai Indians move to the 7th spot in the IPL 2024 Points Table while Delhi Capitals slips to the last spot in the same.
Speaking on the match, Delhi Capitals won the toss and opted to bowl first where Rohit Sharma and Ishan Kishan opened the inning for Mumbai. The duo made an aggressive start by scoring 80 runs for the first wicket.
Axar Patel broke the well-settled partnership by dismissing Rohit Sharma for 49 runs in the final delivery of the 7th over. In the very next over, Nortje dismissed Suryakumar Yadav for duck and loads pressure over the Mumbai batters.
Ishan Kishan who made some aggressive shots failed to withstand Axar’s spin attack and was dismissed for 42 runs while Mumbai scored 111 runs in 10.2 overs.
Following Kishan’s dismissal, Tilak Varma who was expected to make a stand with Hardik Pandya returned to the pavilion after scoring just 6 runs. At the end of 13 overs, Mumbai Indians scored 123 runs for 4 wickets loss.
Hardik Pandya who made a steady inning lost his wicket to Nortje after scoring 39 runs off 33 deliveries while Mumbai scored 181 runs off 18 overs. With 14 balls left, Romario Shepherd scored 39 runs off 10 balls and dragged Mumbai to score 234 runs for 5 wickets loss at the end of 20 overs.
Romario Shepherd scored a whopping 32 runs off the final over bowled by Anrich Nortje and helped Mumbai Indians to register their 3rd highest total in IPL history.

On the other hand, Delhi Capitals lost their opening batter David Warner for 10 runs in the 4th over and made a struggling start. Romario Shepherd dismissed Warner in the 4th delivery of the over after the batter smashed a SIX off the previous ball.
With Prithvi Shaw’s steady inning, Delhi Capitals scored 69 runs for 1 wicket loss at the end of 8 overs. After securing his maiden IPL 2024 half-century, Prithvi Shaw lost his wicket to Bumrah.
Despite an outstanding undefeated 71 off 25 from Tristan Stubbs, Delhi Capitals fell 29 runs short of the victory. With Romario Shepherd’s all-rounding performance, Mumbai Indians registered their first victory of the season.
