Recently, the official social media handle shared the video of the all-rounder joining the franchise for the pre-season camp where he set up a small mandir in the dressing room with head coach Mark Voucher also taking part in the rituals.
Former Australian cricketer Brad Hogg suggested that Gujarat will not face any loss as Pandya moved to the Mumbai franchise in IPL 2024.
“I don’t think Hardik Pandya is that big a loss really (for GT). Yes, he is a quality all-rounder in the middle order, but they can cover it. They have got really good bowling depth there.”
“He was batting in the top order, but I don’t think he was best suited there, so Gujarat Titans are better off without him,” Hogg said on YouTube.
“Mumbai are better off having an Indian all-rounder batting in the lower middle order and I think that’s where Hardik will bat. I think we will see Hardik back at his best with Mumbai Indians.”
Hardik Pandya who made his IPL debut in 2013 has played 92 IPL matches for Mumbai Indians before moving to Gujarat Titans in 2022. Hardik was named as the captain of the Gujarat Titans for the IPL 2022 and 2023 seasons.
Under his captaincy, Gujarat won their first IPL title in 2022 and ended up as runner-up of the tournament in the 2023 season.
With the IPL 2024 season set to begin on March 22, CSk and RCB will be playing in the first match of the campaign. Mumbai Indians will be playing their first match against Gujarat Titans on March 24 at Narendra Modi Stadium.
