The candidates selected as the nominees of the July 2023 Men’s Player of the Month are Zak Crawley (England), Chris Woakes (England), and Bas de Leede (Netherlands).

    Zak Crawley

The right-hander batter was the highest run-scorer for England in the recently concluded Ashes 2023. He was a prolific batter across his performance in batting in July, particularly his 189 runs scored in (182) at Old Trafford.

The innings were combined with the scores of 33 and 44 at Headingley and helped England to level the series with 2-2 and will be championship points in the 2023-25 cycle. He had scored 412 runs at an average of 58.85.

    Chris Woakes

The England team had also another important player who performed in the third Ashes at Headingley. Chris Woakes needed to put more workload to turn the series where he succeeded in it.

The 34-year-old dismissed Marnus Labuschagne by outside edge early in the first morning, returning to remove Travis Head and Mitchell March, and helped his team to Hold Australia in 263 runs.

He claimed three more wickets in Australia’s second innings where the Aussies scored 224 runs, where he scored the unbeaten 32* runs with Mark Wood.

The five-wicket scalp in the first innings in Manchester and a total of seven wickets in the finals and his contribution in his batting made England to 2-2 series draw.

He was awarded the player of the series despite he was present in only three of the five Test matches.

    Bas de Leede

The greatest individual performance in men’s ODI helping the Netherlands to a Cricket World Cup spot in the process, Bas de Leede continues to make a name in the international game.

The 23-year-old took 5/52 and struck 123 for the Netherlands against Scotland in Bulawayo to ensure the men where they piped their opponents to the final tournament spot on net run-rate. He became the fifth player in the history of ODI cricket to have a five-wicket/ double century.

The list includes Viv Richards, Paul Collingwood, Rohan Mustafa, and Amelia Kerr.
