ICC Player of the Month: The International Cricket Council (ICC) has introduced a new program which would see them honour the ‘Player of the Month’ across both male and female cricketers.
The ICC Player of the Month award celebrates outstanding individual performances that have caught the attention of international cricket.
Recognising players who performed with exceptional skill, consistency, and match-winning impact on the global stage, this honour highlights those who have put up a show and made a lasting impression during the month.
Fans would also have the opportunity to cast their votes but the majority of the votes will be cast by the ICC Voting Academy, consisting of former players, broadcasters, and journalists from around the world.

ICC Player of the Month: This is a first-of-its-kind award that ICC has come up with. An independent panel comprising fans, broadcasters, and journalists will choose their men’s player of the month and female player of the month.
“The award is a great way to connect with fans of the sport and celebrate performances of their favourite players through the year,” ICC General Manager Geoff Allardice, said in a statement.
“It gives us all an opportunity to acknowledge world-class performances on the field by male and female cricketers and they have been in abundance throughout January,” he added.
With 10 awards to his name, Virat Kohli dominates the award winning chart and shares the most appearances (14) with AB de Villiers. In women’s cricket, Ellyse Perry leads with six awards, while Smriti Mandhana has made a record with nine appearances.

Voting System for the Award
The three nominees for each of the categories will be decided by ICC’s Award Nominating Committee based on their performance during that particular month. Then these nominees will be voted upon by the independent panel.
The Voting Academy will submit their votes by email and will retain a 90% share of the vote. Subsequently, on the 1st day of each month, fans registered with the ICC will be able to submit votes via the ICC website and will have a 10% share of the vote.
When will be the result updated?
The results will be declared on every second Monday of the month on the ICC’s digital channels.
