IPL 2024 MI vs RR Highlights: Sanju Samson led Rajasthan Royals beats Mumbai Indians by 6 wickets in Wankhede Stadium and registered their third consecutive victory of the season.
Trent Boult, Parag Secures Third Victory for Rajasthan Royals
Mumbai Indians who still struggle to register their maiden victory of the season were expected to get rid of the mark with the home advantage in today’s match against RR. But Hardik Pandya and Co once again turned down their huge fan base and registered their third consecutive defeat of the season.
Winning the toss, Rajasthan Royals decided to bowl first where MI’s Ishan Kishan and Rohit Sharma opened the batting attack.
Trent Boult who bowled the first over for RR dismissed Rohit Sharma and Naman Dhir for golden duck and silenced the Wankhede crowd. Nandre Burger who bowled the second over was smashed for 12 runs by Ishan Kishan.
Trent Boult who was expected to register the first hat trick of the IPL 2024 season missed the feat but dismissed Brevis for a golden duck in the very next delivery.
In his first 8 deliveries of the game, Boult dismissed the top 3 batters of the Mumbai Indians for a golden duck and loaded pressure over the Mumbai Indians. Ishan Kishan who had some positivity with his shorts was dismissed by Nandre Burger for 16 runs in the 4th over.
At the end of 4 overs, Mumbai Indians scored 20 runs for 4-wicket loss where Hardik Pandya and Tilak Varma took the responsibilities on their shoulder and started to bat accordingly.
While Tilak Varma and Hardik Pandya steadily build a partnership, IPL leading wicket-taker Chahal broke the partnership by dismissing Hardik for 34 runs. Soon Chahal dismissed Tilak Varma in the 14th over and scattered Mumbai Indians’ dream of scoring a decent target.
After the Mumbai Indians’ lower order returned without scoring much, the Mumbai Indians scored 125 runs for 9 wickets loss at the end of 20 overs.
On the other hand, Yashasvi Jaiswal and Jos Buttler opened the inning for Rajasthan Royals where Kwena Maphaka opened the bowling attack.
South African young bowler Kwena Maphaka bagged his maiden IPL wicket by dismissing Yashasvi Jaiswal for 10 runs. Though RR kept losing wickets at one end, their inform player Riyan Parag led the Pink Army to register their 3rd victory of the season with his unbeaten 54.
With the victory, Rajasthan Royals remains as the table topper while Mumbai Indians are positioned at the bottom of the IPL 2024 Points Table.
Mumbai Indians will play their next match of the season against Delhi Capitals on April 7 in Wankhede Stadium while RR will play their next match against Royal Challengers Bengaluru on April 6 in Jaipur.
