Mumbai Indians were scheduled to host the Rajasthan Royals to play the 14th league game of the IPL 2024 on April 1 in Wankhede Stadium. The 5 times title winner Mumbai Indians who still struggle to register their maiden IPL 2024 victory is expected to get rid of the mark with their home venue advantage.

Winning the toss, Rajasthan Royals decided to bowl first where MI’s Ishan Kishan and Rohit Sharma opened the batting attack.

Trent Boult who bowled the first over for RR dismissed Rohit Sharma and Naman Dhir for golden duck and silenced the Wankhede crowd. Nandre Burger who bowled the second over was smashed for 12 runs by Ishan Kishan.

Trent Boult who was expected to register the first hat trick of the IPL 2024 season missed the feat but dismissed Brevis for a golden duck in the very next delivery.

In his first 8 deliveries of the game, Boult dismissed the top 3 batters of the Mumbai Indians for a golden duck and loaded pressure over the Mumbai Indians. Ishan Kishan who had some positivity with his shorts was dismissed by Nandre Burger for 16 runs in the 4th over.

At the end of 4 overs, Mumbai Indians scored 20 runs for 4-wicket loss where Hardik Pandya and Tilak Varma took the responsibilities on their shoulder and started to bat accordingly.

Notably, this is the sixth time in IPL where three of the top four batters have scored duck in an inning.

With a catch drop for Tilak Varma, Mumbai Indians scored 46 runs for 4 wickets loss at the end of 6 overs. This is not the first time for Mumbai Indians to lose their top 4 wickets for low score.
