According to the BCCI source, the Indian Premier League is likely to be held in India regardless of the elections in the country.

The Cash-rich league is likely to start on March 22 and the dates of the elections are likely to be announced around the same time. On this occasion, BCCI sources have confirmed that IPL will be played in India.

“There is nothing like that, to shift the tournament outside the country, as the general election will also be at the same time. If any state doesn’t want to host the match at that time, with any justified reason, the match could be shifted to another venue,” a BCCI source told media.

Teams have already finalized their squads after the conclusion of the IPL 2024 auction, which was held in Dubai on December 19.

The mini-auction has featured breaking the previous records for the most expensive player. Australia Pacer Mitchell Starc became the most expensive player in the history of the tournament as he was sold to Kolkata Knight Riders for INR 24.75 crores.

The IPL 2024 auction has recorded an increase of 57% from the previous auction’s viewers. The BCCI secretary Jay Shah took to X (Twitter) to announce that the IPL auction drew a total of 22.8 million viewers, higher than the IPL 2022 auction.

Five-time champions Chennai Super Kings will set out to defend their title in the upcoming IPL 2024.

Chennai Super Kings CEO Kasi Viswanathan was optimistic about the legendary captain MS Dhonis’s return who came back from a Knee injury and told the media, “He has recovered well (from his knee injury). He is undergoing his rehab programs, started training. By the time the next IPL starts, I am sure he will be fit to play.”

The dates for the elections have not been revealed yet, due to which the schedule of the IPL 2024 is not announced. BCCI Secretary Jay Shah and Home Minister Amit Shah have been working on this matter.
