The International Cricket Council has announced the ICC Women’s Player of the Month August 2023 nominees list which includes players from Ireland, Netherlands and Malaysia.
ICC Women’s Player of the Month August 2023 Nominees
The candidates selected as the nominees of the August 2023 Women’s Player of the Month are Iris Zwilling (Netherlands), Ainna Hamizah-Hashim (Malaysia), and Arlene Kelly (Ireland).
Iris Zwilling (Netherlands)
The Dutch all-rounder was impressive with her form in August, scoring 178 runs with an average of 29.66 at a strike rate higher than 100 and scalped three wickets in six T20Is.
She smashed her first maiden half-century against Ireland and finished the series with a list of highest run-scorers. She made her debut in 2019 and has played 41 T20I matches scoring more than 300 runs and dismissing 38 wickets.
Ainna Hamizah-Hashim (Malaysia)
The 23-year-old allrounder had been excellent with her batting performance, and become the leading run-scorer in Malaysia Women’s Quadrangular T20 series.
She scored 91 runs across four innings and won the player in the third-place playoff match against Kuwait where she scored an unbeaten 46 score which became her career best in T20Is.
Arlene Kelly (Ireland)
Arlene Kelly has played a crucial role in the Ireland women’s T20I series against the Netherlands taking 10 wickets in three matches. Kelly had scalped a 5-wicket haul in the first T20I match winning the Player of the Match award.
She scalped 3/11 and 2/20 in the remaining T20 matches and had a record with an average of 4.30 in the T20I which is the fourth-best average of a bowler taking 10 or more wickets in a bilateral series.
Kelly Rose has now occupied the 22nd position in the MRF Tyres ICC Women’s T20I bowling rankings with her performances.

Player of the Month voting process
The Nominees from either category are shortlisted based on their performance by the last day of the month. The Candidates are shortlisted and voted by the ICC Voting Academy and fans around the World.
The ICC Voting Academy consists of well-known journalists, former players, and ICC Hall of Fame members. They submit their votes by email which becomes 90% of the voting members.
The fans who are registered with ICC can also vote via the ICC website through icc-cricket.com/awards, which gives the remaining 10 per cent. Winners will be announced every second Monday of the month.
