    ICC Reveals Women’s Player of the Month Nominees for July 2024

    ICC Women’s Player of the Month nominees: India openers Smriti Mandhana and Shafali Verma, along with Sri Lanka captain Chamari Athapaththu have been nominated for ICC Women’s Player of the Month for July 2024.

    Smriti Mandhana (India)

    After winning the ICC Women’s Player of the Month award in June 2024 with 273 runs with an average of 68.25 and a strike rate of 139.28, Smriti is looking for another success in July following a 149 smash in the final test against South Africa in Chennai. She witnessed a 292-run partnership with Shafali Verma as India won the match by 10 wickets.

    She also scored two half-centuries in the T20I series against Proteas women and strongly contributed to the Women’s Asia Cup 2024 with two half-centuries in the semi-finals against Bangladesh and the final against Sri Lanka.

    Shafali Verma (India)

    The Young batter Shafali Verma has been nominated for the first time after June 2021 after scoring the fastest double century in women’s tet in India’s final test against South Africa.

    Verma starred in the T20I format, top scoring for India in their women’s Asia Cup campaign putting a batting display in the matches against Pakistan (40 in 29 balls), UAE (37 in 18 balls), and Nepal (81 in 48 balls).

    Chamari Athapaththu (Sri Lanka)

    Having enjoyed top form in recent times, Sri Lanka captain Chamari Athapaththu had an impressive outing in July with the Women’s Asia Cup at home.

    She smashed 304 runs in the competition with an average of 101.33 and a strike rate of 146.85, which included an unbeaten 119 runs against Malaysia and two half-centuries in the latter stages against Pakistan and India to claim the side’s first Asia Cup title.

    Player of the Month voting process

    The Nominees from either category are shortlisted based on their performance by the last day of the month. The Candidates are shortlisted and voted by the ICC Voting Academy and fans around the World.

    The ICC Voting Academy consists of well-known journalists, former players, and ICC Hall of Fame members. They submit their votes by email which becomes 90% of the voting members.

    The fans who are registered with ICC can also vote via the ICC website through icc-cricket.com/awards, which gives the remaining 10 percent. Winners will be announced every second Monday of the month.
