ICC has announced the July 2023 Women’s Player of the Month nominees which includes two Australian players and an England star.
July 2023 Women’s Player of the Month Nominees
The candidates selected as the nominees of the July 2023 Women’s Player of the Month are Ellyse Perry (Australia), Ashleigh Gardner (Australia), and Nat Sciver-Brunt (England)
Ellyse Perry
The Australian all-rounder Ellyse Perry had an impressive month in July 2023, which has led to a nomination for the ICC Women’s Player of the Month. She had a notable performance in both the ODI and T20I of the Ashes Tour 2023.
In the ODIs, she played four innings, scoring a total of 276 runs at an average of 69.0. Her strike rate was about 83.13. Perry’s highest score was 91 maintaining a higher strike rate, which she achieved twice, which was against England and Ireland.
Perry had shown her impressive batting skills in the T20 format, where she had a strike rate of 158.62. She made 51 runs off 27 deliveries that nearly carried Australia to win over England in the second T20I of the Ashes tour.
Ashleigh Gardner
Gardner was nominated for the second time in a row for the Player of the Month award, Ashleigh Gardner, the no.1 ranked all-rounder in ICC Women’s T20I rankings.
The Australian all-rounder made her presence in her which made up Australian plans during the Ashes and made her presence felt in every game.
In the ODIs, Gardner picked up three-wicket hauls in each of the three matches while making more than 20 in each game. She scored 41 runs on 24 balls in a run-chase of 269.
Nat Sciver-Brunt
The Player of the Series in the ODI of the Women’s Ashes, Nat Sciver-Brunt played a role in England historically levelling the series on points.
England all-rounder made 271 runs in the series, with a strike rate above 90 and averaging over 100 with the bat in the fifty-over format.
Sciver-Brunt compensated with two wickets with the ball and a couple of catches. She had an unbeaten 111 off 99 balls in Southampton where they went in vain as England fell short by three runs. She returned to the Ashes series and achieved the Player of the Match award.
Sciver-Brunt become the No.1 rank in the MRF tyres ICC Women’s ODI Batting Rankings, achieving 803 rating points.

Player of the Month voting process
The Nominees from either category are shortlisted based on their performance by the last day of the month. The Candidates are shortlisted and voted by the ICC Voting Academy and fans around the World.
The ICC Voting Academy consists of well-known journalists, former players, and ICC Hall of Fame members. They submit their votes by email which becomes 90% of the voting members.
The fans who are registered with ICC can also vote via the ICC website through icc-cricket.com/awards, which gives the remaining 10 per cent. Winners will be announced every second Monday of the month.
