Ishan Kishan starts Training with MI Captain ahead of IPL 2024

After being absent for a long period from his cricketing career, the WK-Batter Ishan Kishan has been spotted training with his new IPL captain Hardik Pandya at the Reliance Stadium in Baroda.

Ishan Kishan has been stationed in Baroda for the past two weeks and actively participates alongside Pandya brothers Hardik and Krunal.

Ishan Kishan and Hardik share a professional bond as they both represent the same franchise. The left-handed batter has been out of the action since November and is also not part of the ongoing test series of England’s India tour.

The all-rounder who suffered an ankle injury is set to play in the IPL 2024 after being rested during recent tours of India. He is set to captain the MI franchise in the upcoming season.

While asked about Kishan’s presence at the academy, the former cricketer Kiran revealed that the player has been training under his guidance.

The head coach Rahul Dravid was asked about Ishan during the test vs England and he responded, “I just don’t want to go on labouring about the Ishan Kishan point.”

“Whenever he is ready, I didn’t say he has to play domestic cricket, I said whenever he is ready… he needs to play some cricket and come back. The choice is his. We are not forcing him to do anything. We are in touch with him.

“We know what it is. He hasn’t yet started playing, right? At the moment, it’s not something that we would consider. He is maybe not ready. He decides when he wants to be ready,” he concluded.

Rahul Dravid also spoke about Kishan, revealing his absence due to his injury on the recently completed Afghanistan’s India tour in 2024.

The team selection for the last three tests is expected to start over the next two days. On this occasion, Virat Kohli has been overseas due to a family emergency which hints at the unavailability of the player for the last three tests.

It is believed that Virat Kohli must have informed BCCI that he won’t be available for the test series on the home tour. India and England have played two test matches so far and have one victory each.

They will be playing their third test starting on February 15 at Saurashtra Cricket Association Stadium.
