Australian pace bowler Jhye Richardson was ruled out of the IPL 2023 season after planning to undergo surgery to overcome his hamstring issues.
Jhye Richardson was brought by Mumbai Indians in IPL 2023 Auction at his base price of INR 1.5 crores. Jhye Richardson made his IPL debut last season for Punjab Kings where he managed to play only 3 wickets from 3 matches he played.
He suffered a recurrence of the injury playing club cricket last week as he attempted a return to action after initially pulling up in the BBL.
Mumbai Indians (MI) on Wednesday named Riley Meredith as a replacement for injured fast bowler Jhye Richardson. Richardson is suffering from a hamstring injury and is ruled out of the 16th edition of the TATA Indian Premier League (IPL).
His replacement, Australian fast bowler, Riley Meredith has played 5 T20Is picking up 8 wickets that include a three-wicket haul. He has represented the Punjab Kings & Mumbai Indians in the previous editions of the IPL. He joins MI for INR 1.5 Crore.
Mumbai Indians have lost their season-opening match against Royal Challengers Bangalore by 8 wickets. While Rohit Sharma and co will play their second match of the season against their rival Chennai Super Kings on April 8 in Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai.
