IPL 2023 Auction: IPL 2023 will be the 16th edition of the Indian Premier League. BCCI introduced the Indian Premier League in 2007 and successfully hosted the tournament till date without skipping any season. Even during the COVID-19 outbreak, BCCI hosted the tournament in UAE behind closed doors.
During the COVID-19 outbreak, BCCI was not able to host the tournament in its regular “Home and Away” format. But post the IPL 2022 season, BCCI confirms that IPL 2023 will be played in their old format – Home and Away.
Mumbai Indians have won the IPL titles 5 times and remain the most successful team of the IPL while Chennai Super Kings won the title 4 times and become the second most successful team.

IPL 2023 Auction Rules
IPL 2023 Auction Rules: As BCCI decides to host IPL 2023 mini auction, franchises have the advantage of retaining the majority of their players compared to the IPL 2022 mega auction.
- No franchise will be allowed to buy a player beyond their purse balance.
- Each team has to spend at least 75% of their total amount.
- The option of the Right to Match (RTM) card will not be available to franchise.
- The number of players in each team should not exceed 25 while each squad should have a minimum of 18 players.
- Each franchise can have a maximum of 25 Indian players and a minimum of 17 Indian players. Similarly, each franchise can have a maximum of 8 international players in the squad but there’s no capping on the lower limit.
