Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chairman Ehsan Mani has provided an update on the probable future of the Asia Cup amid coronavirus outbreak across the globe. The outbreak of corona virus put the world to halt and made scheduled events to postpone. The cash rich Indian Premier League faces the same fate.

    IPL too affected by corona

Earlier BCCI postponed the IPL to Mid of April, but to control the corona virus spread Indian government imposed a 21 day lock down. Which coincide with the “postponed IPL” date. BCCI till now officially confirm that IPL will held later the April month or at the beginning of May month.

Another source claims that BCCI would conduct the tournament in July month. Though there are many rumors regarding the execution, BCCI seeks for all possible way to host IPL 2020. BCCI would lose a huge amount if the 13th edition of IPL went down.

In this year many major cricket event has been scheduled to play including Men’s T20 world cup and Asia cup 2020. Previously ICC arranged a teleconference regarding the execution of T20 world cup as host(Australia) cancelled all the sports event for next six months amid corona virus outbreak.

In that list Asia cup 2020 too get in oscillation for it’s execution as planned before.  Speaking on the topic of will the highly anticipated tournament be called off due to the pandemic, Mani claimed that no final decisions have been made just yet.

“There has not been any discussion on the matter yet. Nothing has been decided,” Mani was quoted saying by Sportstar.

“We haven’t decided on a date for the meeting either. The ACC is monitoring the situation and will take a call accordingly,” Mani added.

This year around, PCB had the hosting rights for the Asia Cup which is also a much-speculated reason why the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) were highly sceptical about sending their players over to Pakistan.

“At this point in time, cricket is the last thing in anyone’s mind. But the member nations and the ACC are keeping an eye on how things go. There is still some time left for the Asia Cup, so a meeting on that could only be held once the situation improves,” the official clarified.
