“I’ve Never Seen a Batsman Like Sachin Tendulkar”, Praises Sunil Gavaskar

    0

Indian legendary batsman Sunil Gavaskar praises Sachin by saying that Tendulkar’s batting was the closest to perfection. One of the best batsmen of all times, Sachin Tendulkar has all the batting records to his name. There is hardly any doubt about his greatness on the field.  Little Master went on to say that during his career he had seen many greats, but no one came close to Tendulkar.

    Gavaskar Praises Sachin

“As far as I am concerned, the closest thing to batting perfection… Sachin Tendulkar. I’ve never seen a batsman (like him) and I’ve seen many from the time I was growing up, from the time I played and now from the time I’ve been watching cricket, I’ve seen many terrific batsmen but nobody had came close to batting perfection like Sachin Tendulkar has,” Gavaskar told India Today.

    Gavaskar praises Sachin

Gavaskar, who the first to score 10,000 runs in Tests said that Tendulkar had all the shots in the book. “The backlift, the head, the balance, everything, the way he would lean forward, the balance when he’d play off the front foot, the balance when he would play off the back foot, on the offside, on the leg side… And later on, when the T20 came in, playing the scoop shot, he pulled it off fantastically. He had everything,” Gavaskar added.

After a career spanning 24 years, Sachin hung his boots in the year 2013, after playing 200 Tests and 463 ODIs. He is still the highest run-scorer in both formats by quite a distance. He had 15921 Test runs at an average of 53.79, while in ODIs, he had 18426 runs at an average of 44.83.

Sunil Gavaskar Needs Ganguly To Carry On As BCCI Chief:

    Possible BCCI President after Ganguly

Former India cricket legend Sunil Gavaskar has applauded Sourav Ganguly’s managerial skills and expressed his longing to see the former Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB) head proceed as the BCCI president till 2023 Men’s cricket World Cup that India will have.

Writing in a regular column for Mid-day, Gavaskar said, “Personally, I would love to see Sourav and his team carry on till the end of the 2023 World Cup in India but let’s see what the court decides. Just like Sourav lifted the Indian team after the early murky times and restored the faith of the Indian cricket lovers, so also he and his team look capable of doing that with the BCCI administration.”

CSK Players And Staff Members Tests Positive For COVID-19 – Reason

    CSK players COVID-19 positive

At least 10 Chennai Super Kings(CSK) staffers and two players including pacer Deepak Chahar have been tested positive for COVID-19 and have been sent into quarantine. With an additional blow to this CSK all-rounder, Suresh Raina left to India amid personal reasons and officials confirmed that he will not be available for the entire IPL 2020 season.

The CSK franchise is staying at the Taj Dubai hotel. They arrived in the UAE on 21 August and their one-week quarantine should have ended on Friday. CSK was supposed to have started training on Saturday, but now there is no clarity on when it will begin.

    CSK Players Tests COVID-19 Positive:

However, there is no official confirmation of the total number of positive cases in the CSK camp. The identity of the Indian player could not be established. Positive results came after CSK players, squad members and support staff underwent coronavirus tests on Thursday.

Unknown Second Player Affected with COVID:

It has emerged that a second player in the team has tested positive too(Updated). The player in question is a right-hand top-order batsman, who has been a part of India A teams in the recent past and is a prolific performer in the Indian domestic circuit.

positive results came after CSK players, squad members and support staff underwent coronavirus tests on Thursday.

“There was a Zoom/video meeting on Thursday night where the issue of COVID positive cases in CSK was announced. The India player who has tested positive has mild symptoms,” said an official.

Another person added: “A high-ranking official is also positive, along with a member of the social media team. When CSK asked for an extension of their one-week quarantine period with BCCI on Friday, it raised an alarm that something was amiss.”

Possible Reason for the COVID-19 Infection:

CSK was the only franchise which organised a pre-season camp in India before the players and staff members flew to the Middle East. The team management was reportedly advised against doing so by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) due to the rate of spread of the virus in the country but the franchise still conducted the camp.

While many consider the training camp back in Chennai as a possible source of the virus spread, the video from the airport (possibly Dubai) is now being reckoned as another possible source that led to the spread of the virus in the CSK contingent. One of the players in close contact with the man was identified as Kedar Jadhav. Here’s the full video:

    CSK is in Great Trouble:

Raina’s return to India comes as another big blow to the Super Kings camp from which at least 10 members – including an India player – tested positive for Covid-19 after a test on Thursday. It is understood there was only one player among those who tested positive, the others being net bowlers and support staff members.

As a result, they have postponed the start of their training to next month while most other teams have hit the nets already in Dubai and Abu Dhabi.

RCB’s Team Director Mike Hesson Feels AB de Villiers and Dale Steyn Would Help To Lift IPL 2020 Trophy

Steyn and Ab de villiers set to play for RCB in IPL 2020

Royal Challengers Bangalore’s team director Mike Hesson feels that South African cricketers AB de Villiers and Dale Steyn are still worth to show their aggressive gameplay in this current IPL season for RCB.

This aggressive player has not seen in international matches for quite a long period. Thus predicting players’ work in IPL 2020 seems a bit difficult. But RCB’s team director Mike Hesson hopes that this duo would help to lift IPL 2020 title.

De Villiers had announced his retirement from international cricket in 2018 but continues to participate in T20 tournaments and was last seen in the 3TC Solidarity Cup organized by Cricket South Africa in July. Hesson recalled his performance in the 3TC Cup while lauding his form and class.

“Only a matter of weeks ago he took part in a match in South Africa and once again he was a standout player, having just come out of his living room. So that certainly showed the quality of player he is,” Hesson told a virtual media conference from Dubai on Wednesday.

“He’s had very, very good franchise tournaments around the world the last 12 months and he’s in good touch.

“Physically, he’s feeling good and refreshed. And once again, he’s one of the few in the group that is absolutely chomping at the bit to get into training.”

    Steyn – Develops His Game

Whereas express speedster Steyn, who retired from Test cricket in 2019 to extend his limited-overs career, has played just three T20I matches in 2020 in addition to the matches played in Pakistan Super League (PSL) before the COVID-19 pandemic struck.

“He’s developing his game,” former New Zealand head coach Hesson said of the 37-year-old quick.

“We saw some different deliveries that he’s been able to develop over the last six months. So he’s certainly not ready to retire yet, certainly very keen to make a contribution this IPL.”

The 13th edition of the Indian Premier League has been scheduled to start from September 19 with its finals on November 10 in UAE.

The opening batsman also admitted to suffering sleepless nights as his mind raced with possibilities of losing his ability to bat through the prolonged break.

“Once or twice I did have sleepless nights thinking ‘What if once I get back to playing cricket, I am not the same player?’ That was a bit scary but luckily in Bengaluru, we got a few practice sessions and that made me feel good.

“Couple of nights, I had nightmares. I woke up with the feeling, ‘What if I can’t pick line and length of the ball? What if I become slower? What if I don’t have the same cover drive as before?’ All these question marks were there. And the first session didn’t help: all those fears came true. I batted so badly in that session it was scary. But after three sessions, I started to feel better and it made me happy.”
