Cricket Australia announces the squad for the Test series against India. Earlier CA announces the Australia squad for ODI and T20I series against India. Tim Paine will lead Australia in the 4-Test series. While Pat Cummins has named as the vice-captain of the Test team.

India skipper Virat Kohli will return to India after the first Test in Adelaide due to paternity leave. While Rohit Sharma has included in the Test series while given rest in ODI and T20I formats.

    Australia Test squad updates

All-rounder Moises Henriques earned a well-deserved recall, highly-rated young all-rounder Cameron Green was also included in the Australia squad. Henriques and Green were included in the squad for ODI and T20I. Green got the call after the youngster smashed 197 in Sheffield Shield last week.

“Cameron has already won selection in the white ball squad and continues that in joining the Test squad. He is a wonderful young talent who has great potential to become an all-rounder of substance over time. His batting alone has demanded his place in the squad.” Australia national selector Trevor Hohns said.

Will Pucovski named in the Test squad

Will Pucovski included in the Test squad after he set the stage on fire in the opening rounds of Sheffield Shield. He scored 495 runs, including 2 double hundreds in just 2 matches for Victoria.

The 22-year-old Pucovski was mentioned as a possible Test inclusion last year. But shortly before the naming of the squad for the series against Pakistan, he asked selectors not to be considered due to mental health concerns.

    Henriques replaced Mitchell Marsh

Mitchell Marsh has been replaced by Henriques in the squad as the latter suffered an ankle injury during the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) 2020. Henriques come back into the squad after prolific last season for Sydney Sixers as they won the Big Bash League.

“Moises is a tremendous cricketer with loads of experience and is a great person to have around the group,” said Hohns.

“His form was extremely impressive in leading the Sixers to the BBL title last summer and he has played well at the start of this season.”

Nathan Lyon to be included in Test format

Nathan Lyon, however, was saved for the four-match Test series against India – for which Australia are yet to announce the squad. But Adam Zampa continued to feature.

“The entire squad performed exceptionally well in the UK in beating the current one-day world champions at home and retaining the world number one ranking in T20 international cricket,” said Hohns.

“We look forward to a blockbuster summer against one of our greatest rivals.”

    IPL 2021 Auction

Post the IPL 2020 show the eyes were on the IPL 2021 auction date. BCCI hinted that it would include an additional team in IPL 2021 which could result in full players auction.

Usually, BCCI would organise the IPL auction at the end of December while the tournament will be played between April and May. But owing to the COVID-19 pandemic the IPL 2020 has been postponed to September and finals have been played on November 10.

This makes the fans to raise questions regarding IPL 2021 auction date.

Full Players Auction for IPL 2021?

If BCCI decides to host IPL 2021 in India during the March-April season then they should host the auction as soon as possible.

Cricket experts feel that the addition of an extra franchise would definitely result in full players auction. Earlier during the ban of CSK and RR from IPL, two new teams have been formed by blending the banned two teams along with some other players. Later the new two teams have been terminated after the CSK and RR ban lift.

In IPL 2021 if a new team is added then the full players action would be a better idea for the franchise.

Would CSK get benefit from a full auction?

After the IPL 2020, one team which is desperate to rebuild itself is Chennai Super Kings. For them having a full player auction will be a welcome relief.

Even MS Dhoni during the post-match interview after playing the last league game of IPL 2020 stated that rebuilding the team will depend on what decision BCCI takes for the next players auction.

    Chennai Super Kings
    Chennai Super Kings(CSK)

“We have to wait and see what BCCI decide on the next season’s player auctions”, Dhoni had said in reply to CSK’s rebuilding plans for IPL 2021.

Not only CSK, but teams like Rajasthan Royals, KingsXI Punjab, Sunrisers Hyderabad, Royal Challengers Bangalore according to a source also has indicated to the BCCI in an informal discussion that they will welcome full player auctions for the next season.

    IPL 2021 auction date

If the plans for full player auctions have to go ahead, then BCCI will have to take final decisions soon. The auctions will have to be completed before the 1st or 2nd week of January which is just 7 weeks away.

BCCI plans to include a new team in IPL 2021?

IPL 2020 has been played between eight teams where Mumbai Indians lifts the IPL 2020 trophy. BCCI to balance the financial crisis has been planned to include an additional team in IPL 2021.

According to The Hindu report, the full auction is being planned since “the BCCI has plans to add a ninth team” for the 2021 edition.

According to a report in The Hindu, there are plans by the BCCI to conduct the entire mega-auction before the start of the tournament.

Which is the new team in IPL 2021?

The major news could be that the IPL 2021 could feature a ninth team and that could be from Gujarat. The Motera Cricket Stadium in Ahmedabad was renovated last year and now has a record capacity of 1,10,000, surpassing the Melbourne Cricket Ground’s 90,000.

    Shreyas Iyer | DC Skipper

We’ll bat. It really worked out pretty well in the last game. When you have a really good total on the board the bowling gets a lot of confidence. We’ve seen it through the tournament and in a big final runs on the board helps The wicket also looks amazing to bat on.

They have been champions through the years and even the way they’ve been playing this season. We have nothing to lose, we have to embrace it and have no regrets at the end of it. The team atmosphere is really motivated, we are in a good mood and have to enjoy the day. We are sticking with the same team.

    Rohit Sharma | MI SKipper

To be really honest I was very confused, so don’t mind losing the toss. It is going to be a good track, it doesn’t change much. We have to bowl aggressively at the start and then see how it goes. It feels nice to be part of another final.

It is going to be a cracker of a game. The past doesn’t matter, it is a fresh day, a fresh game and the pressure of this final will be different. But the guys have been in these pressure situations before, they understand the pressure of finals and yes, we have just got to treat this as another game.

Hopefully, we can execute what we’ve discussed on the field. Everyone’s fit, but just one chance — Rahul Chahar misses out and Jayant Yadav comes in. Just a tactical move considering the number of left-handers they have in the side.

Rahul has been bowling really well for us so sad to leave him out, but Jayant is a quality bowler as well.

    Playing XI

    Delhi Capitals(DC)

Marcus Stoinis, Shikhar Dhawan, Ajinkya Rahane, Shreyas Iyer(c), Shimron Hetmyer, Rishabh Pant(w), Axar Patel, Ravichandran Ashwin, Kagiso Rabada, Praveen Dubey, Anrich Nortje.

DC lands in trouble after losing it’s top three batsmen without scoring massive runs. Shreyas Iyer and Rishabh Pant join hands to lead DC. At the end of the powerplay DC scored 41 runs for 3 wicket loss.

DC is in need to build the much-needed partnership in order to move DC towards a decent score. Pant and Iyer understanding the need of partnership starts with steady and dragged DC beyond 100 runs at the end of the 14th over.

MI is in need to break the well-settled partnership in order to score big while playing the death overs. Pant loses his wicket to Coulter-Nile and walks to Pavillion after scoring the much-needed half-century.

Dc expects a massive inning from Hetmyer but Boult with a slower delivery dismissed the dangerous batsman while scoring 5 runs. At the end of the 20 over DC scored 156 runs for 7 wicket loss. Shreyas Iyer executes his unbeaten 65 runs to boosts DC score to this extend.

Rohit Sharma and de Kock gets in to lead MI to chase down the target of 157 runs. DC bowlers are in need to take early wickets to restricts the MI’s run rate. de Kock scored 18 runs off the so-called dangerous bowler Rabada in the very second over of the innings.

On the other hand, Rohit Sharma too strikes back to back boundaries and sixes. de Kock loses his wicket to Stoinis in the first ball he bowled. While DC expects this wicket would set back MI a little bit, Suryakumar Yadav strikes six and a boundary of the followed deliveries.

At the end of the powerplay, MI scored 61 runs for 1 wicket loss. MI places themself in a safe zone as the run rate reduced to nearly six per over. DC’s star bowlers struggle to break the partnership as MI scored 88 runs for 1 wicket loss.

Suryakumar Yadav sacrifices his wicket via a run out to save MI skipper’s wicket. An unwanted run between wickets which costs MI to lose it’s one of the valuable players. Though MI loses two wickets skipper Rohit Sharma with his half-century dragged MI score to 126 runs for 2 wicket loss at the end of the 15th over.

MI need to score 31 runs off 30 deliveries to bag their fifth trophy. In the much needed time, Nortje dismissed Rohit Sharma while scoring 68 runs. Rabada in the followed over dismissed Pollard after striking back to back boundaries off the previous over.

    Man of the match

    Trent Boult | MI

Some days I do like the powerplay. It’s been a good few months, giving the franchise a good start. With everything going on, I’ve been welcomed in the side. To have made it across the line, it’s been worth it.

I wasn’t aware of the talk, but I did have a niggle coming into the match. I wanted to be on the stage and happy I came through. I’d like to say I’m relatively experienced. Just another match and I was clear what I had to do. Tried to take a few early wickets, swing the new ball a little bit, that’s been my role in the side.

Sachin Tendulkar Reveals the Secret Behind his UpperCut Shot

    Sachin Tendulkar

Former Indian cricketer Sachin Tendulkar reveals that he never practiced the uppercut and neither had he planned for playing the shot specifically.

In a YouTube video, Tendulkar revealed that it was in 2002 during India’s tour of South Africa when he thought of playing the iconic shot.

Sachin Tendulkar – the secret behind his uppercut shot

During a Q & A session, a fan named Anuraj Ande asked – “#AskSachin did you practice upper-cut shot or was it just an instinct when you were playing.”

In reply, Tendulkar said it was all instinct. “It happened in 2002 in South Africa, when we were playing a Test match in Bloemfontein. We were batting first and Makhaya Ntini was bowling around the off stump as he normally used to bowl short of a length. He rarely bowled length deliveries. Since he used to run wide of the crease, I could sight the line,” Tendulkar said.

    Watch Sachin’s uppercut tribute

“The South African pitches offer enough bounce. The normal tendency to deal with those bouncers is to go top of the bowl. And if it bounces more than usual for somebody of my height, why not get under it and still be aggressive and attacking,” the 47-year-old added.

“That was something I felt. Instead of getting on top of the ball and trying to keep it all along the ground, get under it and play it towards third man boundary, utilising the pace,” he further said.

Sachin’s uppercut turned out a nightmare for bowlers

Tendulkar also said that his shot left many of the bowlers of his time “disturbed” as a bouncer was a delivery which they bowled in order to concede a dot ball.

“That shot disturbed a number of fast bowlers because they bowl bouncers to concede a dot ball. But I converted those into boundaries. I actually didn’t plan anything. Sometimes you just have to let your natural instincts take over after getting at the crease. And that’s what I did,” said Tendulkar.

The Indian team newbie Varun Chakravarthy has been ruled out of the T20 series against Australia owing to a shoulder injury. The cricket board reported that the newly selected spinner Varun Chakravarthy cannot throw as he has a labrum tear in his shoulder.

    Varun Chakravarthy faces Shoulder injury

It is learned that it doesn’t affect his bowling but hinders his throwing. He has had this injury for a while but has aggravated as the IPL progressed, according to sources in KKR.

The IE spoke to a few officials and two selectors who said that Chakravarthy was declared fit in the player’s fitness report submitted by the Indian team’s physio Nitin Patel before the selectors picked him in India’s T20 squad.

“The selectors weren’t informed about the injury. Now it’s up to the selectors to pick Varun for the Australian tour or not. It will be selectors call,” a BCCI official said.

BCCI updated that “Varun Chakravarthy has been ruled out of the T20I series owing to a shoulder injury. The selectors have named T Natarajan as a replacement”.

The shoulder niggle has been the reason for KKR making him largely field inside the 30-yard circle to stop the injury from worsening. He did bowl in the Indian team nets in Dubai where he has joined the Indian team bubble after the IPL campaign ended.

KKR informed the Indian team physio about the status of the injury after their IPL campaign ended, and after the selection of the national team was done.

Varun’s injury gave another massive blow after Rohit Sharma‘s unsolved mystery in his fitness report. BCCI added Rohit’s name in the Test squad while resting him in T20I and ODI format games.

    Wriddhiman Saha faces Hamstring injury

Wriddhiman Saha, India’s Test wicketkeeper is also injured and didn’t feature in the qualifier game between Sunrisers Hyderabad and Delhi Capitals on November 8.

    Wriddhiman Saha
    Wriddhiman Saha

“We have no changes, Wriddhiman Saha has a hamstring tear,” confirmed SRH captain David Warner at the toss. In January 2018, Saha was ruled out of a Test in South Africa due to a hamstring injury and a spate of injuries followed, forcing him out of action for more than a year.

Ishant and Bhuvaneshwar Kumar ruled out

Ishant was ruled out of the IPL with an abdominal muscle tear. While Bhuvneshwar Kumar was ruled out with a thigh muscle injury. Both Sharma and Kumar are now doing their rehab at the National Cricket Academy (NCA).

The Indian cricket team is on verge of losing its star players, particularly in Test format games. But BCCI assured to include Rohit and Ishant if they make their way back from injury.

David Warner regards IPL 2020 Elimination

SRH skipper David Warner admits that poor fielding and catch drops lead them to lose qualifier 2 of IPL 2020. SRH faces Delhi Capitals in qualifier 2 of IPL 2020 where the winning team is scheduled to face MI in the finals.

DC lost the first qualifier match of IPL 2020 against Mumbai Indians. DC had a second chance to qualify for the finals as they hold the 2nd position in the IPL 2020 points table at the end of the league matches.

David Warner led SRH qualified for 1st qualifier match after beating RCB in the IPL eliminator match. DC starts the campaign with impressive victories later struggles with back to back losses. While everyone thought that DC would eliminate in qualifier 2 they come back stronger than before.

DC vs SRH – IPL 2020 Qualifier 2

Delhi Capitals smashed SRH’s strong bowling line and scored 189 runs at the end of the first innings. While chasing SRH batting order struck and collapsed by Rabada and Stoinis spell where Rabada took three wickets in the 19th over and proved his worth. Finally, DC beat SRH by 17 runs moves forward to face MI in the finals.

“You can`t win tournaments if you keep dropping catches and missing chances. I think with the ball and the bat we improved after doing badly but our attitude in the field let us down,” said Warner after the match, which SRH lost by 17 runs.

    SRH came through tough matches

SRH entered the playoff in a do or die match against MI and eliminated RCB to play qualifier 2 of the IPL 2020.

“First and foremost, no one gave us a chance at the start. Everyone talked of the big three: Mumbai, DC, and RCB (Royal Challengers Bangalore). So I am really proud of our campaign,” said Warner.

“(Thangarasu) Natarajan, Rashid (Khan), Manish Pandey have been the positives. That back half in the tournament is how we like to play our cricket. Yes, there were injuries but you have to work with what you have got. I am proud to get where we are today as no one gave us a chance,” he said.

We had two outings against SRH and I think this is a better outfield to bat against them. Putting on a good total would be a responsibility, and it’s a good surface too. You have to take the positives and do the homework right and I think we have done that well.

Rashid is an amazing bowler who can change the game. We have to be aware of him and play smartly. Praveen Dubey and Hetmyer come in. It’s important to keep things simple, and it’s only a matter of executing our plan today.

    David Warner | SRH captain

We would have bowled first, so happy with the toss. You can see a few indentations on the pitch we’re standing on, so the one we’re playing on should assist us too and hopefully, we can take some early wickets in the powerplay.

We are supposed to win close games, and that was a kick in the backside to perform and we have performed well since then. Everyone knows their roles in the team. It’s a new wicket, a new game, different kinds of pressure.

We have no changes, Wriddhiman Saha has a hamstring tear, so we’re playing the same team as the last game.

SRH’s strongest bowling department fails to do their best. At the 9th over SRH star bowler Rashid Khan took the breakthrough by dismissing Stoinis for 38 runs. SRH bowlers failed to prove their worth in this crucial match and let DC batsmen to boost their run to a greater extent. Finally, Dhawan after making much more destruction return to Pavillion after scoring 78 runs.

    224 RR vs KXIP Sharjah
195 RR vs MI Abu Dhabi
Highest by SRH: 155 vs RR in Dubai

Priyam Garg and Warner get to the crease to lead SRH to chase down the target of 190. SRH needs to build a massive partnership which should allow the following batsmen to play without any pressure.

But SRH faces the worst nightmare from DC bowlers. Rabada in his first delivery of the innings dismissed Warner and stuns the SRH lobby. Though Manish Pandey and Priyam Garg make back to back boundaries and sixes they failed to show up against Stoinis.

Stoinis in his first over dismissed Priyam Garg and Manish Pandey and loads pressure over SRH. At the end of the powerplay, SRH scored 49 runs for 3 wicket loss.

Kane Williamson and Holder stands as SRH’s last leg of hope to make their dream come true. The duo makes a steady start as SRH scored 75 runs for 3 wicket loss at the end of the 10th over. While DC were beyond 100 runs at this stage for one wicket loss.

A solid 50-run partnership comes up between Kane Williamson and Abdul Samad.

DC is in need to dismiss the game-changer all-rounder Holder and aggressive batsman Williamson. Axar took DC’s much-needed wicket by dismissing Holder for 11 runs. Kane Williamson with his back to back fifties acts as SRH’s last breath. At the end of the 15th over SRH scored 129 runs for 4 wicket loss.

Stoinis puts an end to Williamson’s long fight as he walks to Pavillion after scoring 67 runs. While SRH bit away from the victory Rabada in the 19th over makes triple wicket and scatters SRH dream of victory. At the end of the 20th over SRH scored 172 runs.

Delhi Capitals beat Sunrisers Hyderabad by 17 runs and paved the way to the IPL 2020 finals.

    Man of the match

    Marcus Stoinis | DC

Have done it in the BBL for a couple of seasons (opening the batting) so it was nice to get an opportunity. Never know what it’s going to be like early. There was swing early on. So had a bit of a look at it before having a crack.

Have played quite a bit of IPL, but this is my first final. It’s been hard with quarantine but a bit of silverware is good motivation. MI are a very good team. Have played consistently. But they’re due an off game. Our best cricket should be good enough to win.

Was a really nice wicket. My thought process was to change my grips and see what I was getting out of the wicket and change my tactics with wide yorkers and slower balls.

It opens the gate for a new opening batsman which was fulfilled by Ruturaj Gaikwad. Ruturaj signed a multi-year deal with Baseline Ventures after he scripted a record of scoring three consecutive half-centuries. Which is the highest by an uncapped Indian player so far in IPL  history.

Gautam Gambhir Advices RCB to Look Beyond Virat Kohli

Former Indian opener Gautam Gambhir advises RCB franchises to move beyond Virat Kohli as the captain. Virat Kohli was appointed as RCB skipper in 2013 and failed to lift the trophy till now(2020) under his captaincy.

Virat Kohli led RCB fails to lift maiden title

Though Virat Kohli bags numerous records he still fails to make add the trophy in RCB’s cabin. RCB is not the only team that failed to lift the IPL trophy. RCB, KXIP, and DC are the three teams that failed to lift their maiden IPL title.

Though KXIP and DC failed they use to change their strategy every year particularly with their captains. But RCB still sticks with Virat Kohli and waits for him to lift the maiden title.

Gambhir advice RCB to look beyond Virat Kohli

When asked whether Kohli should be replaced as the skipper, Gambhir told, “100 percent, because the problem is about accountability. Eight years into the tournament (without a trophy), eight years is a long time.”

Gambhir, who himself led Kolkata Knight Riders to two IPL titles, says no other player has gotten the long rope as Kohli without winning a title and it’s time he is made accountable for the results.

“Tell me any other captain forget about the captain, tell me any other player who would have got eight years and wouldn’t have won the title and would have still continued with it. So it has to be accountability,” Gambhir said.

    Gambhir slams Kohli

Gambhir says Kohli has to himself take the responsibility. “…somewhere down the line, he needs to put his hand up and say, ‘yes, I am responsible. I am accountable’,” he said. Gambhir also cited the example of Ravichandran Ashwin who was removed as Kings XI Punjab captain just after two seasons.

“Eight years is a long, long time. Look at what happened to R Ashwin. Two years of captaincy, he couldn’t deliver and he was removed,” the 38-year-old said. Rohit Sharma and MS Dhoni have been the captains of their respective IPL franchises are because of the fact that they have delivered trophies, argued Gambhir.

Gautam points out MSD and Rohit Sharma’s captaincy

“We talk about MS Dhoni, we talk about Rohit Sharma, we talk about Virat Kohli…not at all. Dhoni has won three (IPL) titles, Rohit Sharma has won four titles, and that’s the reason they’ve captained for such a long time because they’ve delivered,” he said.

    MS Dhoni & Rohit Sharma
    MS Dhoni & Rohit Sharma

“I’m sure if Rohit Sharma wouldn’t have delivered for eight years, he would have been removed as well. There should not be different yardsticks for different people,” he added. RCB were impressive at the start of the season, winning seven of their 10 matches.

However, they lost their next five matches and Gambhir said they didn’t even deserve to qualify for the playoffs. “You can keep saying ‘we qualified for the playoffs and we deserved to qualify for the playoffs’, absolutely not. RCB actually never deserved to qualify for the playoffs,” he said.

RCB run with their two key player – Gautam

The former India opener even claimed that RCB has become a team of two players – Kohli and AB de Villiers.

AB de Villiers & Virat Kohli
AB de Villiers & Virat Kohli

“And then they should have had a squad, probably if Virat wanted to open, they should have picked a middle-order batter in the auction. But again it was all about Virat and AB (de Villiers),” he said.

“Imagine if AB would have had a bad season, tell me what would have happened to RCB. He was the one who actually won them two or three games out of seven. I don’t think as a unit they’ve done anything different from what they did last year. It’s exactly the same this year as well. Only because you’ve qualified for the playoffs, just because of one individual’s absolute brilliance, it doesn’t make you a strong contender to win the IPL,” he added.
