Varun Chakravarthy Ruled out of T20I Series Against Australia

The Indian team newbie Varun Chakravarthy has been ruled out of the T20 series against Australia owing to a shoulder injury. The cricket board reported that the newly selected spinner Varun Chakravarthy cannot throw as he has a labrum tear in his shoulder.

It is learned that it doesn’t affect his bowling but hinders his throwing. He has had this injury for a while but has aggravated as the IPL progressed, according to sources in KKR.

The IE spoke to a few officials and two selectors who said that Chakravarthy was declared fit in the player’s fitness report submitted by the Indian team’s physio Nitin Patel before the selectors picked him in India’s T20 squad.

“The selectors weren’t informed about the injury. Now it’s up to the selectors to pick Varun for the Australian tour or not. It will be selectors call,” a BCCI official said.

BCCI updated that “Varun Chakravarthy has been ruled out of the T20I series owing to a shoulder injury. The selectors have named T Natarajan as a replacement”.

The shoulder niggle has been the reason for KKR making him largely field inside the 30-yard circle to stop the injury from worsening. He did bowl in the Indian team nets in Dubai where he has joined the Indian team bubble after the IPL campaign ended.

KKR informed the Indian team physio about the status of the injury after their IPL campaign ended, and after the selection of the national team was done.

Varun’s injury gave another massive blow after Rohit Sharma‘s unsolved mystery in his fitness report. BCCI added Rohit’s name in the Test squad while resting him in T20I and ODI format games.

Wriddhiman Saha faces Hamstring injury

Wriddhiman Saha, India’s Test wicketkeeper is also injured and didn’t feature in the qualifier game between Sunrisers Hyderabad and Delhi Capitals on November 8.

“We have no changes, Wriddhiman Saha has a hamstring tear,” confirmed SRH captain David Warner at the toss. In January 2018, Saha was ruled out of a Test in South Africa due to a hamstring injury and a spate of injuries followed, forcing him out of action for more than a year.

Ishant and Bhuvaneshwar Kumar ruled out

Ishant was ruled out of the IPL with an abdominal muscle tear. While Bhuvneshwar Kumar was ruled out with a thigh muscle injury. Both Sharma and Kumar are now doing their rehab at the National Cricket Academy (NCA).

The Indian cricket team is on verge of losing its star players, particularly in Test format games. But BCCI assured to include Rohit and Ishant if they make their way back from injury.
