Ruturaj Gaikwad led Indian cricket team qualified for the Asian Games Men’s T20I 2023 Final after beating Bangladesh by 9 wickets in the semi-final 1 game on October 6.

Speaking on the game, India won the toss and elected to bowl first and cast an impressive bowling spell which forced Bangladesh to score only 96 runs for 9-wicket loss at the end of the 20 overs.

On the other hand, India too lost their opener Yashasvi Jaiswal for a duck but the skipper and Tilak Varma made a match-winning partnership and successfully chased the target in 9.2 overs.

With the victory, India sealed their spot in the grand Final and moreover will win a medal for sure. During the chase, India’s Tilak Varma scored a brilliant half-century in 25 deliveries.

After scoring his second fifty in T20I cricket, Tilak lifted his shirt to show off the tattoo of his parents and dedicated his celebration to them along with Rohit Sharma’s daughter Samaira Sharma by saying, “The celebration for my mom; I was a bit down in the last few games; I included my best friend ‘Samaira’ in that as well”.

 Apart from his 26-ball-55 against Bangladesh, Tilak bowled two overs as well, in which he picked up the prized wicket of Bangladesh opener Parvez Hossain Emon. Speaking about his bowling after the match, the Hyderabad-based cricketer said, “My aim is to improve as a bowler; I want to be an all-rounder; I worked a lot with legends like Jadeja and Ashwin”.

The winner of semifinal 2 which is scheduled to play between Pakistan and Afghanistan today will face India in the Final game for the GOLD Medal. The final game of the tournament will be played on October 7 at Pingfeng Campus Cricket Field, Hangzhou.

The match will begin at 11:30 AM IST / 06:00 AM GMT / 02:00 PM LOCAL.
