Virat Kohli (born 5 November 1988) is an Indian cricketer who currently captains the India national team. A right-handed top-order batsman, Kohli is regarded as one of the best batsmen in the world. He plays for Royal Challengers Bangalore in the Indian Premier League (IPL), and has been the team’s captain since 2013.
Since October 2017, he has been the top-ranked ODI batsman in the world and is currently holds 2nd position in Test rankings with 886 points. Among Indian batsmen, Kohli has the best ever Test rating (886 points), ODI rating (869 points) and T20I rating (673 points).
The fans considered him as “run-machine” when it comes to chase the target. Steve Smith (Australia) recently dethroned Virat Kohli from No.1 position in ICC test ranking. Virat Kohli’s poor performance in the first Test against New Zealand in Wellington is the cause for this.
Kohli only scored 2 and 19 runs in the two innings of the first test against New Zealand. This poor performance drags Kohli to 906 points. Steve Smith, whose last Test match was in January against New Zealand, now tops the Test batting charts with 911 points.
Akhtar’s formula to dismiss King Kohli
While many bowlers are not able to figure out how to get him out, Pakistani legend Shoaib Akhtar believes he has the formula to send the India captain packing back.
Shoaib Akhtar, in an Instagram Live video, said he would get rid of Kohli if he was to bowl to him.
“If I was bowling, I would go wider of the crease and pitch the ball up [to Kohli] and shape it away from him in order to make him drive,” he said.
He further added: “If that does not work, I will bowl him at 150 [kph] and he will get out.”
While Kohli has already struck 44 ODI hundreds, and 27 Test tons, Akhtar, in his career, played 46 Tests, in which he picked up 178 wickets at an average of 25.69.
He also played 163 ODIs for Pakistan in which he picked up 247 wickets at an average of 24.97.
