Former Team India cricketer and legendary batsman Sachin Tendulkar recently shared former South Africa president Nelson Mandela’s quote on social media to state how sport has the power to change the world.

Athletes have been fuming after a Minneapolis police officer Derek Chauvin was charged on Friday with murder in the death of unarmed 46-year-old Floyd.

Cellphone footage of the white officer kneeling on Floyd’s neck prompted a wave of protests across the United States.

Along with the quote, Sachin also shared a video posted by the International Cricket Council (ICC). The short clip is from the 2019 men’s ODI World Cup final, which was won by England.

“Without diversity, cricket is nothing. Without diversity, you don’t get the full picture,” ICC had captioned the video.

“Nelson Mandela once said, ‘Sport has the power to change the world. It has the power to unite the world in a way that little else does.’ Wise words,” Sachin tweeted.

Sachin Tendulkar threatened Sourav Ganguly to send him back home and end his career

“Sachin also gave a lesson to all the players in the dressing room, doubting himself on his abilities after the two-Test series. Sourav Ganguly, who was new to the team went up to console the skipper. When he walked up to Sachin, the then captain told him to get ready for the next day’s morning run. Ganguly did not turn up for it and that is when Sachin threatened him that he will send him back home and end his career,” Vikrant Gupta said on a YouTube video for SportsTak.

After that day, Ganguly worked hard and made sure he never gives Tendulkar a chance to thrash him.
