Jadeja took an Unbelievable catch in the second test match against New Zealand. Kyle Jamieson and Neil Wagner stand strong and shared a 51-run partnership for the ninth wicket before Jadeja took a stunning catch at deep square leg.
Shami bowled a bouncer from around the stumps to Wagner, who pulled it in the air towards deep square-leg. Jadeja, who was stationed there but standing well inside the boundary line, leapt in the air and put his left hand out and fortunately for him, the ball stuck as he came tumbling down but managed to hold on to the catch.
Wagner was stunned by what he saw as Jadeja himself looked at the replay of the catch on the big screen, marveling at his own superhuman effort.
The all-rounder was immediately surrounded by his teammates as all of them basked in his fielding brilliance. The effort left Wagner flabbergasted too. At tea, Jadeja said he was expecting Neil Wagner to score heavily in the square leg region, but never thought the ball would come at that pace.
Shami then got rid of Kyle Jamieson on 49 as India managed to earn a slender lead of 7 runs at the end of the first innings. The Test match is now pretty open and much will depend on how the Indian batting responds on a pitch which has become quicker and has enough assistance to keep New Zealand interested.
Jadeja’s comment on catch
“I was expecting him (Wagner) to score towards deep square leg. But I didn’t expect the ball to come at that pace. It came so quickly with the wind and I just stuck my hand out. I didn’t even realise when I took the catch. We bowled well as a unit. We will look to bat well and bowl them out again,” Jadeja told the host broadcasters immediately after the innings.
