The match between India and Pakistan in T20 World Cup premises gives nail-biting moments as Ravichandran Ashwin recaptures India’s epic win against Pakistan at MCG.
Ashwin recaptures India’s epic Win against Pakistan In T20 World Cup
Ravichandran remembers the final moments of the T20 World Cup India vs Pakistan match where he hit a winning strike against Pakistan after Dinesh Karthik’s dismissal.
The victory was decided on the last ball of the match, as India needed one for victory when Virat Kohli was at the other end. After a long discussion with the former captain, the off-spinner had a clear shot straight over Mohammad Nawaz’s head to take the winning run.
Ravichandran Ashwin disclosed that Virat Kohli gave him seven options when he came to the striker’s side on the match’s last ball. India went on to beat Pakistan by four wickets at Melbourne Cricket Ground with a bold finish.
Ashwin faced the ball by Mohammad Nawaz by hitting the winning run by playing the shot over the infield.
In his latest conversation, Ashwin spoke about Kohli’s efforts in the match. He alone scored 82 runs out of 53 balls.
“When I came to bat against Pakistan for the final ball in the World Cup, Virat Kohli gave me around 7 options to play that one ball. When I look into the eyes of Virat, he was possessed and was on another planet. It was a terrific innings by Virat in one of the great matches ever.”
Stunning moments in the T20 match
Kohli put up a good show on the day as India completed a very tough chase on the day, with Ashwin hitting the last score of the match. Batting first, Pakistan scored a total of 159 in their 20 overs, from the fifties of Shan Masood and Iftikhar Ahmed.
India’s chasing start was bad on that day as they found themselves helpless at 31/4 in 6.1 overs. Kohli and Hardik Pandya lifted back from the slide, but the required rate was too high to reach. Kohli managed to hit two sixes which was required on the stage off Haris Rauf to keep his side.
India ended up needing 16 runs from the final over, and Pandya was dismissed off the first ball by Mohammed Nawaz. Kohli hit the fourth ball for a six and it was called a no-ball by the umpire for being waist high. Then it was because of the support of Kohli Ashwin who threw the shot making the team’s winning score.
Cricket fans are remembering the thrilling moments and eagerly waiting for the ICC World Cup, where the competition for the last two places is taking place in ICC World Cup Qualifiers 2023.
