West Indies Batting
Gayle and Lewis gets into the crease to lead West Indies while Mahedi Hasan opens the bowling attack.
Mustafizur in the 3rd over of the innings dismissed Lewis for just 6 runs and draws the first blood for West Indies. Soon in the 5th over Mahedi Hasan dismissed Universal boss Chris Gayle for 4 and loads the pressure over the West Indies batting unit.
At the end of the powerplay, West Indies scored 29 runs for 2 wickets loss. In the following over Mahedi Hasan dismissed Hetmyer for 9 runs and increases the loads the pressure over the West Indies side.
West Indies need to build a partnership to make a decent score. As an unexpected ending Russell loses his wicket without even facing a single delivery. With Pooran’s 40 runs off 22 balls, and Holder’s 5 ball 15 runs West Indies scored 142 runs for 7 wickets loss.
Bangladesh Batting
Naim and Shakib walks into the crease to chase down the target of 143 runs while Rampaul opens the bowling attack. Windies needs to pick quick wickets in order to register their maiden victory of the ICC T20 World Cup 2021.
Though Bangladesh makes a quick start they fail to make it as steady. Russell in the fifth over dismissed Shakib for 9 runs and draws the first blood for Bangladesh. With an another wicket in the followed over by Holder Bangladesh ends up their powerplay by scoring 29 runs for 2 wickets loss.

Soumya Sarkar and Liton Das join and lead Bangladesh and in pressure to build the required partnership. At the end of 10 overs Bangladesh scored 55 runs for 2 wickets loss. Post the drinks break Akeal Hosein dismissed Soumya for 17 runs and breaks the partnership.
With 13 runs needed off the last over, Afif Hossain and Mahmudullah stand in the crease and puts all their effort to drag the team towards a clean victory. But Russell with a perfect yorker off the last ball restrict Mahmudullah from scoring his match-winning knock.
Finally, West Indies register their maiden victory by beating Bangladesh by just 3 runs.

Man of the Match
Definitely a tactical move batting down. Our batting hasn’t clicked so far and we have been chopping and changing. I felt like I had to raise my hand up and perform for the team after Polly left. I have been working very hard.
I have been a doing a lot of right things. I hadn’t been doing justice to myself. I have always been positive about my skills and attitude. It’s tough managing all the players. I must commend the guys.
It was important (to win today). We didn’t take all our catches, but the energy was good and the belief was always there. Had faith in the experienced bowlers. Akeal has been bowling well for us in the tournament, just felt Chase was not needed on that wicket because back of a length from the pacers was tough to hit.
Told him (Russell) the over before, make up your mind whatever you have to defend. He executed, thankful to him. Happy for him. He looks fine, the medical team is assessing him. Even with that injury, walking back to bat and hitting that vital six. We can see why he has been a wonderful leader.
We as young players look up to that. We would like to someone like that in the future. At the end of the day, very happy.
