We are going to bowl. Setting totals has been challenging in this tournament so far. Davey is missing out due to a niggle, Evans comes in. And I come back, and Wallace is out. We expected the challenges to go up, it’s a bit of reality check to be honest.
We are not fearing any opposition, but are mindful of the challenges. What a time to be a Scottish cricketer and a fan, these opportunities don’t come easy. So we’ll try to push the boundaries.
Kane Williamson
We would have bowled as well, looks like a good surface. It’s important to do the job. We are playing with the same team. For us it’s about maintaining the standard like we did against India.
There are match-winners in every side, so we need to focus against every side. The guys in our side can play a variety of roles, so we are sticking to the same side.

New Zealand Batting
Guptill and Daryl Mitchell open the batting attack while Wheal opens the bowling attack. Scotland needs to make quick wickets inorder to restrict WTC21 winners from scoring a massive run target.
Though Scotland fails to pick wickets early as expected they restrict NZ from scoring massive runs in the powerplay. Safyaan Sharif in the 5th over dismissed Daryl Mitchell for 13 runs and draws the first blood.
Skipper Williamson gets into the crease. Sharif in the same over dismissed Kane Williamson and impressed everyone. Soon Mark Watt in the 7th over dismissed Conway and loads pressure over the NZ batting unit.
With Guptill’s massive 93 runs off 56 balls, New Zealand scored 172 runs for 5 wickets loss at the end of the powerplay.

Scotland Batting
Munsey and Coetzer gets into the crease to lead Scotland to chase the target of 173 runs while Boult opens the bowling attack.
Coetzer opens the innings with a couple of fours of the very first over and makes a strong start for Scotland. But Boult in his second over dismissed Coetzer for 17 runs and draws the first blood for Scotland.
Matthew Cross and Richie Berrington makes a 45 runs partnership where Southee breaks the partnership by dismissing Matthew Cross and restrict the momentum gained by Scotland.
Though Michael Leask makes an unbeaten 42 runs off 20 balls Scotland still struggles to make a partnership and windup the innings after scoring 156 runs for 5 wickets loss. A close victory for New Zealand where NZ beats Scotland by just 16 runs different.

[On him tiring during batting] We have a day off tomorrow, so I won’t be doing much then. We didn’t have a great start. It wasn’t a rescue mission, but Glenn and I had to assess. I have played a lot of cricket with him, and we have put up a lot of partnerships for Auckland. A few missed balls and we were able to get them away and get some momentum. Not ideal with the running, but we got there in the end. Afghanistan are a great side and we can’t take them lightly.
