ICC Men’s ODI World Cup 2023 Pakistan Squad: As per the World Cup 2023 schedule, the 1992 World Cup winners Pakistan will play their first game of the tournament against the Netherlands on October 6 at Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium, Hyderabad.

ICC Men’s ODI World Cup 2023 Pakistan Squad: Pakistan star player Babar Azam will lead the team in the World Cup 2023. Under ICC regulations all teams are given a deadline of September 28 to announce their World Cup 2023 squad.

It will be the first time the competition is held entirely in India; three previous editions were partially hosted there – 1987, 1996, and 2011.

As of the previous edition, the 2023 edition will also follow the same format where each participating team will play the other nine teams once in the group stage where a total of 45 group matches will be played. The top 4 teams of the ICC ODI World Cup points table will enter the knockout stage to play semifinal 1 and semifinal 2.

• 06 August 2023 – The Pakistan government has expressed concerns about its team’s security in India during the World Cup but has stated that it will allow the side to take part in the tournament.

• 27 July 2023 – Ahmedabad police have reportedly expressed their inability to provide security for the India-Pakistan game on October 15 as it coincides with the first day of the sacred Navaratri festival.
• Pakistan’s matches are slated to take place in Hyderabad, Ahmedabad, Bengaluru, Chennai, and Kolkata.
• 21 June 2023 – ICC and BCCI both have turned down the request of PCB to switch venues of Afghanistan and Australia’s matches in Chennai & Bengaluru of this ODI World Cup 2023.
• 20 June 2023 – The PCB has asked the ICC to swap the venues for Pakistan in ODI World Cup 2023 matches against Afghanistan and Australia.
• 18 June 2023 – Pakistan refuses to play their World Cup 2023 match against India in Ahmedabad.
• 5 May 2023 – India and Pakistan will face each other on October 15, 2023(Sunday).
• 5 May 2023 – The majority of Pakistan matches are set to be played in Chennai & Bengaluru.
• 29 March 2023 – PCB requested neutral venues or a hybrid model for the 2023 World Cup following India’s request for the same for Asia Cup 2023.

ICC Men’s ODI World Cup 2023 Format

• Ten teams will contest for the coveted trophy.
• The tournament will follow a similar format to the 2019 edition in England and Wales, with a round-robin stage followed by the knockouts.
• All 10 teams will compete against each other once in the round-robin stage.
• A victory earns the winning side two points in every match, while a no-result will mean the sides share a point each.
• The top four teams of the World Cup 2023 Points Table will qualify for the semi-finals.
• The winners of the two subsequent semi-finals will contest in the final, where the champion will be crowned.
