Ahead of the ICC T20 World Cup 2023, Ireland batter Rebecca Stokell has been ruled out of the tournament due to an injury.

Stokell sustained a foot ligament injury, and after a medical assessment it was decided to withdraw her from the tournament, Cricket Ireland stated in a release on Friday.
As per the ICC rules, each participating team has to select a squad of 15 players before the tournament and were also able to replace any injured players. Notably, ICC also named the all-woman panel of match officials for the tournament.
Ireland’s cricket team has named Rachel Delaney as her replacement in Ireland’s squad for the Women’s T20 World Cup 2023. Rachel Delaney who made her Women’s Twenty20 International cricket debut for Ireland against New Zealand on 6 June 2018 played 10 WT20Is so far.
Delaney scored 40 runs at an average of 10 and bagged 3 wickets in the 10 matches she played.
Speaking of the replacement, Carrie Archer, Ireland’s National Selector, said, “We are all devastated for Rebecca and wish her a speedy recovery. Rachel Delaney has been called up – an experienced all-rounder who has been part of recent senior squads. We wish Rachel well as she flies out to join the Irish camp.”
As per ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2023 Schedule, Ireland will play their first match against England on February 13 at Boland Park, Paarl.
