The news of Rinku Singh not in the 15-member squad for the T20 World Cup squad to be played in the USA/West Indies has surprised the social media platforms and the experts. He found a place only in the reserves alongside Shubman Gill, Khaleel Ahmed, and Avesh Khan.
Why Rinku Singh is NOT in the Main T20 World Cup Squad?
The world knows the capabilities of Rinku Singh as a finisher. It was always expected that he play a crucial role in the Indian Team that heads to the T20 World Cup in the USA and West Indies.
Considering the squad selected, Shivam Dube is in his prime form and brings left-hand angle into the mix, and also, Jadeja as a left-handed batter, brings his bowling as an additional factor, they found an edge over Rinku Singh. Rinku Singh is solely playing as a finisher but doesn’t offer bowling, which India cannot sacrifice from the No.6 or No.7 batter.
The possible first XI line-up for India goes like
- Rohit Sharma
- Virat Kohli
- Suryakumar Yadav
- Shivam Dube
- Hardik Pandya
- Wicket Keeper between Sanju Samson and Rishabh Pant
- Jadeja
- Bumrah
- Kuldeep
- Spinner between Chahal and Axar Patel
- Fast Bowler between Siraj and Arshdeep
If you see the first XI choice here, Rinku Singh can only replace Suryakumar Yadav, who doesn’t offer bowling in the lineup, which becomes an unfair comparison. As Suryakumar Yadav is believed as India’s X Factor batter who changes the momentum at ease from the top order. From this lineup, the earlier comparison of Shivam Dube, who also offers some bowling, which might help in the slow conditions expected in the coming T20 World Cup.
Apart from that, the most straight-away option is to play Rinku Singh ahead of Jadeja, but the latter’s bowling has been superior and can’t be second-looked. While his batting has been on and off. In addition to this, we have to keep Hardik Pandya’s recent woes as a bowler in the IPL 2024. The straightaway option could’ve been Jaiswal, but the Indian team decided to have an extra option of the opener role, there’re too many options to play lower-order from the selected squad.
Rinku Singh in T20is for India:

It’s been a tough selection though to leave out a quality player like Rinku Singh from India’s Main 15-member squad that’s selected for T20 World Cup 2024, he’ll be the first choice to get into the setup if there’s any situation that demands a player in the squad.

Fans Reaction on Rinku Singh Exclusion:
The way Rinku Singh has been dropped from the 15-man squad is exactly the reason why India haven’t won the T20 World Cup since 2007. The player who has aced the most difficult and demanding role in T20 cricket didn’t deserve to be dropped. Lack of understanding about how T20…

Speechless! Angry! Sad!
How on earth you can drop Rinku Singh? He sealed his place even before the IPL began. When are we going to get rid of favouritism and politics in Indian cricket. #KKR | #RinkuSingh pic.twitter.com/vysdcF3xzc

Axar Patel & Jadeja makes 0 sense tho. Jay shah’s Gujarati selection? Rinku in main & Axar in reserves would have made more sense. https://t.co/RNbKX1dyC7
