    Ranji Trophy 2024 started with a controversial start after two Bihar teams turned up for Mumbai at the Moin-ul-Haq Stadium in Patna.

    Two Bihar teams from Bihar arrived in Patna to play in the state’s Ranji Trophy match of the 2023-24 season which resulted in Chaos and confusion. A dispute arose, causing a split in the Bihar Cricket Association as the President and Secretary had issued separate team lists.

    The police stopped the secretary’s team from entering and playing the match against Mumbai. The match was delayed for a couple of hours due to an unusual strange occurrence before the BCA president’s team played against Mumbai.

    Despite the chaos, Bihar was focused on the match, where Veer Pratap Singh picked a five-wicket haul as Mumbai were bundled out for 251.

    Bhupen Lalwani scored 61 runs for Mumbai when the absence of captain Ajinkya Rahane, who was sidelined from the match due to injury.

    Bihar was hosting an Elite Group Ranji Match at Moin-ul-Haq Stadium in Patna. The dispute unfolded within the Bihar Cricket Board, where two separate team lists have been announced for the Ranji Trophy 2024.

    BCA president Rakesh Tiwary announced one team, the Secretary Amit Kumar announced his team. When the committee questioned BCA which team would face Mumbai, both teams came to the ground to play in the match.

    However individuals attacked BCA’a OSD Manoj Kumar and he was struck with a stone in his head, causing injuries. Following this event, it was stated that the identification of all culprits is underway from the BCA’s side.

    A strict legal action will be taken to prevent such incidents. It is understood BCA has been united, but a few individuals were conspiring to defame the state body by running campaigns against it.
