Player of the match
Sam Billings | Oval Invincibles
Quite a while (to have hit so well), it’s been a long summer. Nice to see the work behind the senses just come off. It wasn’t the perfect scenario to come, I played to my strengths, really pleasing to get over the line.
Sometimes I try too hard and put pressure on myself. Nice to clear the head and go and play like that. Huge boots to fill, Klaasen leaving, he’s arguably been the best player in the world in the last year. It was about stepping up and filling those shoes and I got the job done.
That’s the story of our summer this year – everyone has stepped up at different times, it has been a real team effort. Hugely pleasing, one more game to go. Lot more relaxing not having to to go to the Eliminator and then the final.
Awesome (support), this is arguably the best place in world cricket for white-ball cricket. We are hugely thankful. Hopefully we can make them proud on Sunday at Lord’s. (On the pacers) Really enjoyable to keep to. Gus (Atkinson) is bowling serious wheels.
He’s going from strength to strength. Spencer (Johnson) is another exciting young talent, unfortunately not English but he’s a great guy and someone we’ve enjoyed having around.
