We will bowl first. Short side one side. And we can guard ourselves a bit with that dew factor. Missing out are Billings, Willey, Curran, Wood… Wood and Curran needed a bit more time to recover after the injuries in the warm-up games.
Tymal Mills is playing. He was excellent for us before. We get balance with Liam and Moeen, so gives us three seamers and three spinners. Obviously missing those all-rounders who aren’t here hurt us. We are excited about the start of our campaign tonight.
Kieron Pollard | West Indies
Not really a blow. Toss is 50-50. We would have bowled. Russell is fit. First World Cup for Pooran, McCoy. Akeal Hosein gets an opportunity as well. With the combination of our team we do not depend on Russell bowling 4 overs every game.
We have an all-round team. Just a matter of us coming together and playing. Chris Gayle, legend for us. He has been around for 20 odd years. He has done a lot for West Indies in all three formats. He has done justice to himself. Looking forward to what we can do as a team more than as individuals.

West Indies Batting
Simmons and Lewis gets into the crease to lead West Indies while Moeen Ali opens the bowling attack.
Though Lewis hits a six off the first over he was dismissed in the very next over by Woakes for 6 runs. The 2 times world cup winning team struggles a lot to make a steady partnership. The aggressive team fails to make the expected opening match in the ICC t20 World Cup 2021.

Moeen Ali | England
- Bat: 3 off 4 balls
- Ball: 4 overs – 1 Maiden – 17 runs – 2 wickets
It was always nice to catch one like that, I saw CJ running and thought about leaving it to him as he’s so fast and great in the field, but then it was on my side and I stuck my hands out. It gives you confidence, my first over was nice until that six, but yes it does give you confidence.
It helps with so many left handers in their team, but I have been bowling alright in the nets, quite confident and as I have been playing cricket, I was not that nervous.
The role in that team (CSK) is really good for me, I felt comfortable and involved with both bat and ball, it is great to be playing those big games like the semifinals and finals and then coming to the World Cup.
