    Which Is The Best Stand In Eden Gardens: The second-largest cricket stadium in India and the third-largest in the world was established in 1864. The stadium was operated by the Cricket Association of Bengal and was owned by the Eastern Command of the Indian Army.

    Initially named the ‘Auckland Circus Gardens’, the park was renamed the ‘Eden Gardens’ in 1841. Eden Gardens is in the B. B. D. Bagh area of the city, near the State Secretariat and across the Calcutta High Court.

    Eden Gardens was the home venue for the IPL team Kolkata Knight Riders who won the title for a couple of times in 2012, and 2014.

    • The first Test match at the venue was held in 1934 between England and India, and its first ODI was played in 1987 between India and Pakistan
    • The first T20 international in Eden Garden was played in 2011 between India and England.
    • The 1993 Hero Cup semi-final featuring India and South Africa was the first day/night match.
    •  In 1987, Eden Gardens became the second stadium to host a World Cup final.
    • Eden Gardens witnessed a record crowd of 110,564 in the 1996 India vs Sri Lanka Cricket World Cup Semi-Final.
    • Apart from International matches, the stadium hosts the Bengal cricket team and the Kolkata Knight Riders Indian Premier League franchise.
    • The stadium’s Club House is named after former Chief Minister of West Bengal Dr. B. C. Roy.
    • In 2016, a bell was added to the stadium to ring at the start of the day’s play for test cricket and the start of the match for ODI & T20I matches.
    • Kapil Dev was the first person to ring the bell to start the test match between India and New Zealand in September 2016.
    • The pitch at Eden Gardens has traditionally been on the slower side and good for batting, assisting spin bowlers very early.

    Which Is The Best Stand In Eden Gardens: In 2017, four stands at Kolkata’s Eden Gardens stadium were named after Indian Army martyrs. Cricket Association of Bengal President Sourav Ganguly and Army’s Lieutenant General Praveen Bakshi dedicated the stands to 1962 Indo-China war martyrs Subedar Joginder Singh and Lieutenant Colonel Dhan Singh Thapa. Two other stands were named after Late Colonel NJ Nair and Late Havaldar Hangpan Dada.
