The Mumbai all-rounder Shivam Dube sustained a side strain injury during the Ranji trophy match against Assam and was ruled out of the tournament.
Shivam Dube may miss IPL 2024
The Right-hand batter Shivam Dube who has been part of the Chennai Super Kings squad that won the IPL 2023 has a major setback due to a bilateral side strain injury he sustained during the match against Assam in the Ranji Trophy 2024 schedule.
He scored a century during the match against Assam but sustained an injury due to which he will be missing the knockout stages of the Ranji Trophy.
Mumbai is set to play their quarter-finals match against Baroda on February 23. He has amassed 407 runs with an average of 67.83 in this Ranji season. He also picked up 12 wickets during the campaign.
The Injury has added concerns on his availability for the CSK franchise for the IPL 2024 which is set to begin in a month.
After undergoing scans, it was revealed that he was suffering from a grade-one tear in the bilateral side and had to rest for at least 8 weeks. Hence, the players might miss CSK’s early schedules.
His absence is a significant blow for CSK, considering his role in the squad. He amassed 418 runs with an impressive strike rate of 158.33.
CSK is looking for their 6th IPL title and will have to consider alternate options for the injured bowling all-rounder. They are set to play in the first match of the IPL 2024 schedule against Delhi Capitals on March 22.
“Dube is dealing with a bilateral side strain injury and may miss the remainder of the Ranji Trophy season. He got injured while batting in the recent match against Assam and didn’t participate in the field during Assam’s second innings at BKC.”
“The injury is classified as a grade-one tear. It’s expected that Musheer Khan will step in as his replacement,” said a source.
Chennai Super Kings has five new signings during the mini-auction out of which New Zealand’s Daryl Mitchell and India’s Sameer Rizvi are the expensive players for the CSK squad in the IPL 2024 auction.
Chennai and Gujarat will be playing their first match of the IPL 2024 campaign at DY Patil Stadium in Mumbai.
