The Bangladesh all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan has been included in the Bangladesh squad for the first test against South Africa starting on October 21.
Apart from pacer Khalid Ahmed Bangladesh has retained the whole squad that played two test matches against Bangladesh last month. Shakib Al Hasan who previously hinted on his final test at Mirupr, will be playing in the final one for Bangladesh as the veteran all-rounder has been granted his wish.

The series is part of the current ICC WTC cycle. The 1st Test begins at SBNCS, Dhaka on 21 October, while the 2nd match will start on 29 October at ZACS, Chattogram.

Shakib mentioned before the second test against India in Kanpur that if he is assured of security he’d like the Mirput test in front of the home fans to be his last and it seems that request will be fulfilled in the series opener.
The rest of the squad has been retained from the 2-0 series loss to India. Bangladesh secured a historic win against Pakistan, only the second away series win for the side. However, all the confidence and momentum came spiralling down against the quality Indian side.
Bangladesh will feel confident when they meet South Africa. However, the proteas men will be coming off with a series win against West Indies and despite having not played a series in Bangladesh for 21 years, the visitors will be quietly confident regarding their resources to come good in the sub-continent conditions.
Bangladesh has been out of the WTC final race but South Africa is alive in the race as they stand in the fifth position of the WTC points table.
The first match of the Bangladesh and South Africa tests will begin on October 21 at Shere-e-Bangla.
