West Indies tour of Pakistan 2022: Cricket West Indies (CWI) have announced the 15-member squad for the Pakistan tour which kick starts from June 8, 2022.
West Indies will play 3 matches ODI series against Pakistan under newly named captain Nicholas Pooran.
The 3 matches ODI series are part of the postponed West Indies tour of Pakistan 2021. Both teams are scheduled to play 3 matches T20I series along with 3 matches ODI series in December 2021.
Right after the T20I series, where Pakistan whitewashed West Indies, the followed ODI series has been postponed due to the wake of a COVID-19 outbreak among the visiting squad.
The upcoming tours of West Indies will be the first series without former ODI captain Kieron Pollard, who announced his retirement from international cricket last month.
Prior to the Pakistan tour, the West Indies will tour the Netherlands to play 3 matches ODI series. Notably, both series are part of the ICC ODI Super League 2023.
All-rounder Jason Holder is being rested to manage his workload, whilst Shimron Hetmyer is also unavailable owing to the birth of his first child. Evin Lewis was not considered for selection after failing to meet CWI’s fitness criteria.
Three new players get a chance in the West Indies squad which includes fast bowlers Jayden Seales and Shermon Lewis, as well as batter Keacy Carty. Carty becomes the first player from St. Maarten to be selected for the West Indies Men’s side.
