Afghanistan spins great Rashid Khan has been named as the captain of the MI Cape Town for the inaugural season of the Cricket South Africa T20 League, also known as SA20 league.

Rashid, who had a stunning IPL 2022 season, helping Gujarat Titans lift the title in their first attempt, has played several franchise leagues across the world.
The Cape Town-based franchise has given the captaincy role to the 24-year-old, who is one of the overseas players MI Cape Town signed ahead of the auction.
Rashid Khan’s team comprises of a solid local South African core of Kagiso Rabada, Dewald Brevis, Rassie van der Dussen, along with Jofra Archer, Sam Curran, and Liam Livingstone. The SA20 season will begin on January 10, 2023, with MI Cape Town set to play the opening game.
In another set of developments, MI Emirates have appointed Kieron Pollard as the captain for the inaugural edition of the UAE’S International League T20.
The veteran West Indies’ all-rounder has been a great leader in the shortest format of the game. He led Mumbai Indians in IPL numerous times in the absence of Rohit Sharma.
Kieron Pollard’s squad will feature the best of world cricket talent in Dwayne Bravo, Nicholas Pooran, Trent Boult, and Imran Tahir.

“Both will work with our excellent coaching teams to infuse the MI spirit in MI Emirates and MI Cape Town and win the hearts of cricket fans in UAE and South Africa,” Akash Ambani added.
The legendary spinner will work closely with head coach Simon Katich, batting coach Hashim Amla, and fielding coach James Pamment to make MI Cape Town as successful as Mumbai Indians of the Indian Premier League.
